The man stepped forward to the buttons, and was going to make his choice. Wait, what the fuck?! That's my dad! She almost let it slip by saying it aloud, but stopped herself. It was difficult to hide the slight scowl on her face. She was in disbelief. He hadn't joined the games himself ever since he won the 28th Squid Game years ago. The last time she could remember a person in charge being in the game themselves was a few years ago.

Her dad, In-ho, pressed the O button, and went over to the others on the O mark. She went around a few people, starting to head over to him, but then she realized it might be too risky, someone could overhear. Hwa-young would wait until the groups spread out.

The voting ended, with the O team winning. Everyone split apart, some going to their beds for the night. She approached In-ho before he could go anywhere. She spoke in a hushed tone, "What the hell are you doing here?" she glared at him.

He let out an exhale, and looked at her. "That's what I was wondering when I saw your face with the rest of the players. Hwa-young, you are trying to get killed."

"I'm doing it because I want to have something for myself, I want to survive because of my own skills, which is a better excuse than you have, only coming in here to drag me out." she said.

He shook his head. "I'm not in here for you. I'm here for my own reasons, and this was going to happen eventually. Even though I'm usually in charge of them, remember it was the same for Oh Il-nam." he replied, referencing the creator who took part in this competition, his own game, he did end up dying shortly after.

She had nothing to say to him after he said that, all she could do was silently hope to herself that her father doesn't have a deadly fate. Hwa-young did go against his wishes, but she doesn't hate him, and certainly didn't want to see him die.

Hwa-young knew he was lying, he had to be. There's no way it was a coincidence that he decided to join the same time she did. It couldn't be for his own agenda. Whatever, I'm still not going to do any sort of teaming up with him. She thought to herself.

She walked away from him, going to her bed. She had trouble sleeping, she kept tossing and turning. She decided to sit up, and sighed as she fluffed up her pillow, hoping that would fix the problem. She heard the sound of footsteps, and her head turned to see who it was. "Thanos? What are you doing over here?" she asked, confused. She was pretty sure his bed was across the room somewhere.

"Hey, I couldn't sleep. My mind is a mess." he chuckled, landing onto the edge of her bed and laying on his back as his hands reached up to run through his hair. "I also couldn't go to sleep." she responded. "What're you thinking about?"

He was staring at the ceiling. "How I'm gonna win this shit. Man, I need the money. I'm in a big debt, and I'm screwed if I don't win... my life would be over."

She frowned. "I didn't know you were struggling..." She had read an article that said he was experiencing money issues, but she had no idea it was that bad. He bit his lip, and sat up suddenly. "Yeah, I was even about to jump off a bridge... whoo! My head is going crazy." He hopped off her bed.

She was surprised that he gave her that piece of information and was about to go back to his side of the room. Hwa-young reached over and grabbed his hand, "Wait."

He spun around, looking back at her. He used his free hand to quickly scratch his neck. "What is it?" he questioned. Hwa-young inhaled, "You can stay with me if you want."

A smirk appeared on his face, and he nodded. She expected him to go back to where he was laying before, but instead he sat right next to her. His leg brushed against hers from how close they were. Hwa-young felt her face heat up, and was thankful the lights were out, though she knew that he could tell she was nervous anyway.

"Thanks, my flower." She knew he was merely saying the meaning of her name, but the nickname coming out of his mouth still made her feel giddy. Calm down. He isn't into me like that. He's just a flirty person!

She leaned her back against the wall, and glanced at him, he was moving his head to imaginary music. She could see his purple hair swaying to the beat. She cracked a smile, those pills must be good.

Hwa-young woke up when everyone else did, ready to eat breakfast. She went into a line with the others, and headed back to her bed to eat the food. She received a tin container and a bottled water. She opened up the container and eagerly started to eat the food.

She had a few sips of the water, and when she looked up, it was perfect timing, Thanos was waving her over. She took the bottle with her and sat beside him, Nam-gyu and another guy were sitting there too. "This is Gyeong-su, he's also a fan of me." Thanos said, pointing to the guy she didn't recognize.

"Hi, I'm Hwa-young." she shook his hand briefly before leaning back against the stairs they were sitting on. "We could start a fanclub now." Gyeong-su said, in a joking manner, he received no response. Thanos put his arm across her shoulders, resting it there, and also bringing her a little closer in the process.

The group chatted with eachother for a bit. Minutes passed, and soon, the guards entered through the sliding doors. "The second game will begin momentarily. Please proceed to the game hall." the automated voice announced in the speakers.

note that she will be bratty sometimes on purpose haha. its part of her flaws at the moment, because she was raised mostly with only her and her rich dad, protected all of her life, and watched people with money struggles fight to survive as a form of entertainment. you will see improvement in her character later on.
