"Everyone has different opinions, but it's something to think about." Just then the door clicked open as a couple customers shuffled in.
Finn and I shuffled to the back to help Byron with whatever he needed us to do. For some reason I couldn't shake what Byron had said earlier. It just felt as if he was actually on to something. What if the prince really didn't want that fate?

The day moved on one slow minute at a time, or maybe I was just watching the clock closely. As I packed up my things Finn nudged me. "You alright? You've seemed off all day."
"Im fine, just tired I suppose." I swung my bag over my shoulder and began walking into the busy streets.
He caught up to me quickly still pushing the question. "You're a bad liar."
"That obvious?" I continued walking hoping to get home quicker, as I didn't want to explain to him what had been bothering me all day.
"Hah! I knew something was wrong!" He grinned pushing me slightly with his shoulder.
"I hate you." I smiled looking up at him.
"Nah, you love me." He tucked his hands in his pockets. "But really, are you okay?"
"Im fine don't worry." I tried to reassure him but he didn't seem to believe me. I guess I'm hard to believe.
We stopped outside my house as I turned to look at him. "You're welcome to stay for dinner."
"I appreciate it, but my mother is waiting for me. Thanks though." He smiled. "See you tomorrow Val."
"Bye Finn." I turned stepping into the house. The warmth soothed me.
"Welcome home sweetie." Mom greeted me across the room as she carefully placed dinner on the table. "Your father is cleaning up, but he will be joining us shortly."
I smiled placing my things down on the small bench by the door. I walked over to the table taking a seat at the soft wood table. The chair was surprisingly warm.
My father returned moments later taking a seat at the small table. He smiled warmly at my mother and I. "Glad we all are here this lovely evening."
Mom returned the smile, placing her hand on my father's. "Yes, it is lovely."
"Shall we eat?" We all began eating, enjoying each other's company. It felt good to know I still have them.
After we ate we cleaned up the kitchen and put dishes away listening to my dad's horribly funny jokes. I said good night and walked to my bedroom. It was small, but cozy and comfortable.
I brushed my white-blonde hair and braided it so it didn't tangle even more. It was due for a cut as it was getting long again, down to my knees in fact. Mom usually cuts my hair but she's been really busy lately so I'd rather not bother her.
I changed into my night clothes and plopped onto my bed. It felt good to lay down and clear my head. I rolled over staring at a photo of my family. We looked so happy in the photo, and we may never get that chance again. I might never get to know what it feels like to hug my brothers again.
I let out a long breath rolling back over. I stared at the ceiling, my head filling with never ending thoughts. They never seemed to stop. As if they were always waiting for a moment to haunt me.
What if the world was different? What if we were all treated the same and no one stood below another. Maybe then there wouldn't be wars, and every family wouldn't have to say goodbye to their children.
Must be nice for the Silvers. They don't have to worry about their children surviving the wars. They're normally guaranteed to return without a scratch on them.
I thought back to what Byron told me earlier. What did he mean by the prince being a puppet in his own game? Who would feel bad for anyone in that family. I struggle to feel remorse for them. They are handed everything they need while the rest of us work for a small paycheck. He may not want to be apart of that world, but he is.
The King is awfully good at telling lies to his country. He makes his citizens think that they're weak, and that they can't thrive without the Silvers. Most are vulnerable and seek the closest shelter from their so called king.
One day it will all change. The world will be united as one and no one will feel weak or alone. Maybe not yet, but eventually everything will change.
I just hope I live to see it all change.
