☆ ☆ Y/n POV ☆ ☆
I locked up the restaurant a little earlier than normal to give myself time to walk to the location the guy on the phone had given me, still a little skeptical. Not that it really mattered, nobody showed up to eat here anyways. I pulled my jacket as close to my body as I could and put my keys in my pocket with my phone and started in the opposite way of my house. After about 10 minutes of walking I reached the location and it was just the side of a random street with a few benches, I took a seat and checked my phone. I was only about 3 minutes early to the given time to be here so I figured I'd just wait here until either someone showed up or a car pulled over to pick me up, I'm not really sure which I'm waiting for. I started to think about what possibly the game could be as a car pulled off the road and opened one of the back doors for me. I stood up and looked in seeing 3 other people asleep in the van before I got in. "Nobody sleep well?" I asked the man in the front realizing he had a mask on from looking at the front mirror of the car. The door closed and there was just silence for a few seconds before I heard what sounded like an air conditioner and tiredness started to take over my mind.
When I woke up I heard loud music but tried to go to sleep again, realizing I wasn't in the van anymore I shot up quickly and looked around. There were bunk beds surrounding me and a bunch of people around talking to each other, everyone had numbers strapped to them I looked down at myself and realized I was wearing the same thing, a white shirt and some bluish-green pants and a jacket with the number 264 on it. Confused I took the thin blanket the rest of the way off my body and started to climb down the stairs looking at all the people around my set of bunk beds. It seemed everyone knew someone here so I figured I had a pretty good chance at finding someone, anyone really. I start looking around and I notice someone I recognize, Gi-Hun?? I haven't seen him in 3 years, he used to stop by the restaurant to check on my mom because she used to be friends with his mother. She was a wonderful woman. I start walking over and see him talking to a few other men "Gi-Hun?" I question and he turns around to look at me and his face floods with worry "Y/n? What are you doing here? Is your mother okay?" He puts his hands on my shoulders and I nod "Yeah, she's okay, her illness is getting worse but for now she's okay." I see his relief in his face as a loud intercom starts to speak "The first game will start shortly, all players please line up to be escorted to the game room." Gi-Hun looks worried for a moment and then hides it "Okay, I need you both to listen to me" he looks between me and the other man he was talking to "They're going to make us sign a contract, read it, and please don't panic when we get in there." That doesn't sound good at all. I just nod deciding not to question it. I see a bunch of the players lining up and we decide to join them. After a few minutes more men in masks come in holding clip boards with a paper on them. As players start to walk with the other guards I see them signing the paper before they leave the room. How did Gi-Hun know about that? I decide to ask him about it after the game. As I approach the door I look at the paper and read it carefully. All makes sense to me. I sign on the small line at the bottom of the paper and follow the person in front of me to the game room through a room of winding hallways, stairs and doors until we stop at a large metal door. The doors open and everyone steps inside, there's a large doll-like thing on the opposite side of us and a white line drawn on the floor. Once everyone is in the room the metal doors close behind us "Players, the first game is red light green light. You may move when it shouts out green light, if you are caught moving after it says red light you will be eliminated. Please start behind the white line. You have 5 minutes to complete the game, if you have not crossed the finish line after the time is up you will be eliminated. I will now repeat the instructions" eliminated is such an intense word for this, why couldn't they say disqualified or something like that? I only think about it for a moment before the doll on the other side of the room turns its head around to face the tree behind it and music start playing "Green light" as people start moving Gi-Hun starts yelling "if you are caught moving you will be shot! Freeze!" He shouts as the music stops and only a moment after the dolls head turns back towards us "Red Light" I'm nothing but confused at this point. Why would they shoot us for failing at a children's game? That sounds ridiculous. Gi-Hun kept yelling for 2 rounds after that and a few seconds after the doll turned to face us again a girl started yelling "Oh shit, I just moved." She laughed out to the guy behind her and I looked over to see if anything would happen, even though I was sure it wouldn't. But sure enough, there was a loud bang and she fell to the floor. Oh my god, she's dead. There's blood coming out around the hole through her head as she lay motionless on the ground. There were only a few people who could see her and I'm not sure everyone who saw it processed what just happened. The next round started and nobody moved. I only moved to look down at the woman to see if it was an act she was putting in for dramatics. But it wasn't. "Red light" the doll turned back around and someone else got shot near the front center of the entire group. A large number of people began to panic and run for the metal door we'd entered from and every last one of them was shot and killed. There's no way this is actually happening right now. "We need to move! If you don't make it past the mark by the dolls feet in time they will shoot you too!" I could hear Gi-Hun behind me instructing us on how to proceed. Now I really have to ask him about this later. If I make it. Once the dolls says green light again everyone starts moving again. There's only about 2 minutes left to get to the line and I'm about 20-30 feet away. I just hope there's enough time for me to make it. Gi-Hun starts telling everyone to line up behind someone so that less people are seen if they do move, since I'm in front of most of the people I don't get that opportunity, but maybe I can shield those behind me, not that I'd be able to see them if I did. When the doll turns back around there's a few gunshots but not nearly as many, maybe 4. When the doll says green light again everyone in their lines starts moving up and I'm about 5 feet from the finish line when the doll turns back to face us again just because of how fast I was running to get there. Once I'm over the line I don't have to worry about being shot anymore. At least, I hope that's how this will work. There's a few seconds of deafening silence before the doll turns around and shouts Green light again and I'm finally able to get over the line. There's about 10 people that make it across with me before red light is called again. I check the timer again, 1 minute left. I just hope everyone who's still alive is able to make it over in time.
We are all escorted back to the room I woke up in and as soon as I knew everyone was in I ran to find Gi-Hun to ask about what the hell was going on here. I found him sitting on a set of stairs for the bunk beds and quickly approached him "What in the world is going on? How did you know what was going to happen in there?" I demanded as I sat down next to him and the guy he was talking to earlier "I've been here before. I came back to take down the person in charge of it all." He admitted, his voice a whisper.
