You worked at a computer maintenance building. For the past year you'd slowly climbed up until you had a great job there. Of course that wasn't all you did there. You also were quite the experienced hacker. At first you just used your skills to watch free movies and such, but then you'd managed to find your way into government files.
That's what you were doing the day the building got attacked.
You had just opened communication files, and you quickly read through the conversation. Standing up, you packed up your bag, looking around the room. Were you just going to leave these people to die? Probably. They wouldn't believe you and by the time that you managed to convince them to leave you'd all be dead.
Unfortunately for you, you'd just gotten to the elevator door when something smashes through. It was a small robot, and it looks innocent enough as it wanders over to the center of the room. You steadily back up, hoping to get out, but just as your hand finds the button, the robot explodes.
You duck to your knees, covering your head to protect it. People are screaming, and you stand up, pushing past people to get to the elevator. That was a stupid move, because the elevators broken of course.
Just as you were heading to the stairs, a red and gold suit blasts through the window. "It's alright! I'll take care of this! It's all under control!" The man assures. Iron Man, the one and only. You'd applied to be a technician for Stark Industries, and denied within a day. You doubt they'd even read your résumé. It was outstanding.
"Under control? Tad bit late for that!" You shout angrily.
You could hear his sigh and you'd bet all your money that he was rolling his eyes right now. "Look-whatever your name is-"
"It's y/n!" You shout.
"Whatever. Look, y/n, I just found out about an attack on this building five minutes ago. I'd say that's pretty impressive!" Stark looks around. "Alright everyone remain calm, I will get you out of here-"
More small robots zoom into the room, and you barely hear Stark curse when another explosion goes off. "Just remain calm-" he repeated.
"JUST DO SOMETHING!" You shout at him. Him standing there telling people to remain calm wasn't doing anything aside from scaring people. Stark struggles to shoot down the robots as they enter the building, trying to keep them from exploding. Suddenly you get an idea, and you run out of the room. Hopefully the main computer is still connected. It's far enough from the explosions to be safe...
"Hey you! Y/n! Where the h*ll do you think you're going?!" Stark shouts, but you ignore him. Mostly.
"Saving your a**!" You exclaim as you enter the computer. Typing quickly, you search for the nearest hotspot. Within minutes you've found where the robots are getting their commands from.
"Almost there..." You mutter to yourself as Stark barges in.
"Listen-y/n, I don't know who you think you are, but I've gotten most of the civilians out, and you need to leave before this gets dirty," he demands.
"You got them out despite the exploding robots? Right. They're mostly dead, aren't they?" You smirk. "I expected nothing less."
"Alright y/n, you're leaving," he seemed pretty angry with you, but you kept typing.
"Not until I finish. I can shut down their control panel and stop them all. I just need to finish downloading the virus so I can take control," you explain in a rushed voice.
"Huh," Stark snorted. "So you're the hacker they were targeting."
You look up for a second. "Excuse me? Who was targeting me?"
"Hydra. All of this-" he gestured around himself to the burning mess. "Is your fault."
"No, it's hydras fault," you click enter as the virus loaded.
A robot wizzed into the room, but instead of exploding like the others did, it attached itself to the side of Starks suit. Suddenly the light turned of and it powered down. You could hear a muted, "Jarvis? Jarvis boot up backup power," with no reply.
"Well that's unfortunate," you remark, then type more in the computer.
"They've shut down everything," Stark banged on the inside of the suit.
"But you're the great Iron Man, surely you could do something," you mock him.
"Shut up," he orders, and you laugh.
"Make me. I could easily get you out of the little pickle you're in, but if all of this is MY FAULT, then why should I?" You smirk.
"Y/n, if you don't help me, I swear to god-" he threatens.
"How about we talk about what you'll do if I do help you?" You offer, a fake sweet tone to your voice.
"Fine-fine. What do you want? Money?" He asks.
You laugh. "No, not that."
"Not money? What else could you want? A yacht? You want a yacht don't you," he groans.
"No, not that either. I want a job at Stark Industries," you lean back in your chair, checking the computer. The virus was 89% loaded.
"I can't just give you a job! There's a strict selection process," he argues.
"Well that's what I want. And I suggest you choose quickly. My virus is almost uploaded, and once it is it will effect all of the robots. Including the one in your suit."
Stark sighs. "Fine. I'll give you a d*mn job. Just get me out."
"Ah ah ah. I want a good job. Not a janitor or something," you clarify.
"Seriously y/n?"
"Seriously."
"Fine. Just get to it."
You smile and type quickly. You pull up the controllers database, which shows the location of all the robots. Zooming in, you locate the one in Starks suit.
Clicking on it, you find all the information on it. "It looks like this one has a different set up than the rest. Still easy enough," you go to the settings, then giggle. "This might hurt."
"Wait what do you mean? What do you mean it might-" you press the terminate button, causing the robot to short circuit itself, electrocuting Stark a little bit. He flinches, and his suit powers up again.
"All better?" You ask.
He nods. "Seems everything's in working order," he hesitates before adding, "Thanks, y/n."
"I'd say anytime, but every time it's going to cost you," you smile.
"Yeah, I suspected nothing less," he pulls off the face mask. "I suspect that S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to be checking up on you now and then since you were a target of Hydra."
"S.H.I.E.L.D. I've read about them," you stand up and extend your hand. "I look forward to doing business with you."
"I dread it," he sighs. "You start Monday. And don't get any ideas about hacking into our network and stealing my money," he warns.
"I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the idea," you smile widely. "And one more thing-I need a ride out of here."
Stark groans. "Of course you do. Of course you do," he turns around. "Get on. Let's go, let's go."
You climb on his back as he soars through the sky, dropping you off on your roof.
"How the h*ll am I supposed to get down from here? I don't have a hatch!" You shout as he leaves.
"My helps always going to cost you!" He shouts as he flies away.
