(TW! self harm/ depression)
"Cece come back!"
Cece giggled
"You have to catch meeee Jay!"
The two ran around the park, carefree and happy. After a couple minutes of running around the collapsed on the grass in giggles. Cecilia was Cece's full name and Jason was Jay's. Cecilia had heterochromia so one of her eyes was green while the other was blue. She has curly black hair. Jason has hazel eyes and messy black hair.
"Jay?" Cece called for Jay to see if he's awake.
"Yeah?" Jason called back
"Will we be friends forever?"
"Hmmmmm" Jason sat up and wondered.
"Yeah!" He concluded as he jumped up to his feet.
"Really?"
"Of course, you are my bestest friend in the world, I don't think I could have another bestest friend" Jay said with a smile
"But you could get a girlfriend!"
"Ewwww No never ever" Jay said, crossing his legs and turning away from Cece.
"Heyyy i was joking"
"Jason! Cecilia! It's time for dinner!" Cece's mother called them.
"DINNER!" Jason yelled with joy and ran to the house.
"Jasonnnn slow down!" Cece whined as she ran after him.
~❤Middle school❤~
"Jason!" Cecilia yelled out as Jason walked towards his house. She ran towards him, her curls bouncing up and down.
"Hiii"
"Hey Cece"
Cecila frowned.
"Don't call me that"
"What, Ceceee" Jason teased and poked her side. She giggled.
"Ok fine, Jayy" She struck back
They laughed together and talked. They weren't as close as before but still were friends, nonetheless. Jason had other friends and so did Cecilia. They were only 13 after all. What could change?
~❤High school❤~
They passed each other in the hallway. Jason had a huge group of friends while Cecilia walked alone. It was obvious what had happened.
Jason became popular while Cecilia grew to be in a corner.
Will we be friends forever?
Yeah!
Cecilia had a better memory than most. Those words echoed through her skull every time she walked past him. He promised. He promised. He said forever. Yet why did he lie.
It hurt to walk past Cecilia. Jason felt horrible. He promised. He promised. He promised for the rest of their lives. But he broke the promise.
In his eyes, it didn't make sense. Why weren't their roles reversed. Her mismatched eyes were beautiful. Her hair is as light and bouncy as her spirit. Her smiles lit up rooms and her jokes would always cheer him up. Why did he have to lose her.
~❤~
In her eyes, it made perfect sense. It was always bound to happen. He only grew attractive as the years went by and was so kind. He was funny and had somehow stolen her heart from under her nose. His messy hair reflected his soul, free and unbound. His eyes were striking and saw immediately what was wrong. He cared so deeply it was enough to get lost in his eyes and be wrapped in his embrace and to cry in his arms. Yes, Cecilia loved him. She loved him enough to part oceans, enough to fly, enough to believe in love.
Of course it was impossible. Why would he love a girl like her. She's a hopeless romantic. She dreams more than she thinks. She creates stories as real as her imaginary friends. All she ever wanted was her own happily ever after. Was that too much to ask? For a perfect life, for a perfect love, and for it to last. Why can't life be as simple as it was before. It was just her, Jay, her mother, and no worries. She was crying now, at home, in her room, curled up on her bed.
She soon sat up and started rummaging through her closet. She admired gothic clothing and thought it was time for a change in wardrobe. She should let loose, live a little. She shouldn't stay hung up over a boy. Thankfully her winter break had started so she had all the time she needed for her change. She should express herself.
After a while, she had found herself. She found herself forgetting Jason, fully immersed in her outfits. Her friends from a site called Wattpad loved her new style. They supported her and were her crutch. Her books became her best friends, and she felt good. Cecilia used her social media to share and found a community of people like her. She was ready to make the most of her high school years, and if that didn't work out, she was going to be okay with it.

Jason was stuck in a slump. He wanted to make it up to Cece, but how do you make it up to someone you have ignored for long enough for them to potentially hate you. Knowing Cece, Jason though she might hate him. He shivered at the thought since Cece has been doing karate since she's been 6, so it wouldn't end well for him. He groaned.
Why can't life be simple like before? Just him, Cece, and nothing else. Jason wanted to dissolve into nothingness, just nothing. He hated feeling, hated everything.
None of his friends ever truly cared, especially his friend group, who hated each other. They never listened and probably were only friends with him for his popularity. It hurt but it was true.
His father was there but never truly considered him as a son. Just a mistake who killed his wife the day he was born.
All he wanted was someone to listen to him, to care, to sit with him at his worst. That was Cecilia, he lost her. She won't come back. So, what's the point. Winter break was when he started cutting. He could feel. He couldn't stop.
One day, he thought, One day.
