White rum scent cah miss.
"Aye uncle Ernie," he waved to the other men under the tree at the domino table.
Uncle Ernie look like him a see stars the way him a grin and wave.
"Then a mi yuh carry dah pretty girl yah fah—"
My phone interrupted checking the caller ID I saw that it was Amoy who was suppose to be a few cars behind us.
"Oye, unno alright."
"No mosquito a nyam we and we cah turn on the AC cause it a mek Kels stuffy," you could hear the misery in her voice.
"Mi have pill inna mi bag can give har. everybody else alright?"
"Yes Jae a sleep, and the love birds up front."
"Alright mama, car dem move up see you in a few." I ended the call throwing the phone in my bag getting ready to exist.
The backyard was filled with Christmas music, people chatting away, drunken men games playing to the side, older women gossiping loudly and kids running wild.
Squeezing through the packed bodies navigated my way over to my friends sitting in the shadows.
On my way over I noticed the different races that congregated in the yard, a person from every continent, culture and religion.
A heritage day.
Seems like it.
Look like miss Donna use to tek up census cause a so alone you know so much people.
When my family came into view, my speed accelerated swerving bodies to get over there.
A familiar voice pulled me over pulling me in for a warm embrace pinching my cheek.
"Through yuh batty get bigger yah whine pass, how yuh never come call to mi when you come," my one time mother in law asked looking between me and her son who stood close by.
"Nothing like that miss Donna, mi did just tired so mi go hold a likkle sleep plus mi see yuh did busy,"
My back was turned but I could feel him eyes piercing through my back and my attire did not help.
Donna pulled me close to her and whispered, "No mek the ole boy tiaad, you out run him sometimes."
Our giggles were cut shortened when a presence was felt and a shadow blocked the light, without looking I could tell it was him.
And the cologne weh you can stay from outta gate and smell.
"Weh unno ova yah a chat mi say?" Mac asked from behind me.
Tyson walked over to us with a knowing smile playing on his lips.
"Mi a tell you woman say how yuh ungrateful and wicked to mi. A from when mi beg yuh come down fi pick up the people dem from airport Mac?" her voice changed from playful to irritation.
"Mommy mi done show yuh the levels a wah gwan already, memba a busy time fi mi now inno wid the business dem and thing,"
He is now to my right hand placed firmly on my ass.
"Mhm, an always your buiness dem yuh use as excuse just like yuh daddy. A hope yah mek time fi pretty cause if you don't a next man will."
Tyson and I shared a look before we started laughing over the facts his mother just spoke.
His entire trip I heard from him all of three times not counting the heavily staticky FaceTime video at the airport when he just got there.
The moment he was back on Jamaican soil he went straight from the airport to his restaurant or so he claims. He never came home until 1 AM that morning.
