"Hey, can you pass me the creamer?" Eddie puts his hand out, practically expecting Buck to pull it out of thin air.
"No, I'm making my own coffee right now, get it yourself."
"C'mon, you're right next to the fridge and you can't just reach in and grab it for me?"
"Dude, get it yourself. I'm doing something." Buck laughs as he's mixing up his own coffee.
"Please."
Buck freezes. There is a slight inflection in the word that Buck recognizes. He knows no one else around would hear it, but he's heard it so many times... It's like his body can't even reject the request anymore. He reaches into the fridge and grabs the creamer. He hands it to Eddie. "Fuck you."
"Hmh..." Eddie lowers his voice. "I didn't think that'd actually work." He laughs as he pours the creamer into his coffee.
"I hate you."
"I don't think you do..." Eddie closes the bottle and puts it on the counter.
"Fine, but I don't want you using that whole thing to your advantage all the time."
"Oh, I'd never do that. Trust me," he leans in just enough to feel the closeness, but not enough to raise suspicion, "I only plan on using that trick in the bedroom."
Buck puts on the same teasing face. "Hey now, if you've ever got something you wanna try, all you have to do is let me know." He gives him a wink as he takes the creamer to put some in his own coffee.
"How long does it take you two to make coffee? Get over here and eat breakfast with us," Hen yells at them from the table, and for a moment, they both feel like they got caught.
Buck takes the creamer and puts it back in the refrigerator, and they head back to the table.
"I cannot believe I have to get off a 24-hour shift, then go straight into Christmas shopping. Karen always gets so excited this time of year, but I wish she'd let me wait a day, but she's got work tomorrow and it's really our only time to go."
"Do you have room for one more? I mean, I have to get some stuff for Chris. He mostly just wants things for some of his video games, but maybe if you're shopping for Denny, I can find something Chris would like too, and I could send it as a surprise or something. I'd feel dumb just getting him stuff online. I want something with my name on it."
"Sure, the more the merrier. Maybe you can keep her preoccupied so I can grab some gifs for her too."
"Sure, I'd love to help out."
The rest of their shift was hell. A huge fire that meant no resting for a solid eight hours, and they already had a few calls that disrupted their sleep. They were working with at least three other full houses in the area. When they get back to the firehouse, Eddie goes up stairs for some coffee. He falls asleep on the couch waiting for it.
"Hey, baby. Shifts almost over." Eddie wakes up to Buck's voice, his shoulder being gently shaken. He's sure no one else is alone based on the use of the pet-name.
"Hmm... Thanks for waking me up."
"Of course. Made you some coffee too." He hands him a cup and he receives a soft tired smile in return. More than enough payment. He reaches out his hand and Eddie grabs it, allowing him to pull him off the couch.
"You're too nice to me." Eddie hums as he takes a sip of the coffee.
"Just like to see you happy." Buck whispers as he leads Eddie towards the stairs. About halfway there, Eddie seems to wake up a little. Buck is no longer leading him, just walking with him. They get down the stairs and Eddie B-lines to Hen.
