"SHE SQUEEZED MY HAND!"
"HER EYES ARE MOVING!"
Every time I tried to get up it was always something like this.
I was always so close to seeing the world again when I would feel an indescribable comfort pumping through my veins which would drag me back into my welcoming darkness.
"Come on my sweet baby. Momma bear needs her cub more than ever. Can you please come back to me, my precious baby girl?"
My mommy's smooth voice was even more hypnotic than the peaceful darkness.
I suddenly found the urge to see her face, to hold her soft hand in mine.
I wanted to be able to run in the park with her and sing silly songs.
I needed my mommy as much as she needed me and no darkness could lull me back into nothingness.
With a new determination I began to force myself out of my empty hole.
It felt like it took ages for me to get up but finally, I began to recognize rays of light peeking past my eyelids.
I felt an excitement inside of my heart that caused my heart to pound and by cells to become more and more alive.
I heard a continuous beeping that was increasing with speed with each wave of happiness I felt.
"HER HEART IS RACING! SHE ISN'T READY YET! I NEED A NURSE!"
"PLEASE SAVE MY BABY!"
I wanted to scream.
I wanted to tell mommy not to worry that I was coming back to her.
I wanted to let her know I was on my way.
Before I could even utter a word I felt liquid being pushed inside my vein.
"The sedatives have taken affect. Her heart rate is back to no-"
My window of opportunity was suddenly shut.
I felt the need to cry as a sadness replaced the bubbly excited feeling I had.
Mommy is going to worry and she always does bad things when she's stressed.
She always would go in her room with her door locked or send me with my granny for days on end.
"Mommy I'm home! Granny said she would call you later, she couldn't come in to see you cause she had to make PopPop dinner."
I ran as fast as my legs could carry me to my room to put on my pajamies.
As I passed my mommy's room I saw her on the floor.
"Mommy what are you doing?"
She quickly pushed some stuff under the bed and looked at me with wide eyes.
As I glanced at the floor I saw white powder streaked in the path she just made when hiding her stuff.
"HOW COULD YOU MOMMY?"
She looked at me with panicked eyes.
"Baby gi-"
"NO YOU KNOW I LOVE POWDERED DONUTS AND YOU ATE THEM WITHOUT ME!"
Her face calmed down and she told me after a nap she would go get me some donuts from the store.
I never got my donuts but mommy sure was happy the rest of the day.
After my mind went through more memories I began to feel the tiredness leave my body again and that was the moment I decided to get up.
