THE HOLLOW ECHO

I speak, but my voice is a pebble tossed,
Into a chasm where all is lost.
The air absorbs my every plea,
A ghost of sound, unseen, unfree.

Eyes slide past like shifting sand,
Never landing where I stand.
I am the shadow in the sun,
Present, but noticed by none.

The world moves on, a roaring stream,
While I am trapped in a muted dream.
A leaf that falls with no one near,
To mark its dance, to shed a tear.

Words dissolve like smoke in rain,
Each attempt a quiet pain.
I am the page nobody reads,
A flower crushed among the weeds.

Yet still, I linger, a flickering flame,
Yearning to hear them call my name.
But silence wraps me, tight and cold,
A heavy cloak I cannot fold.

To be ignored is to fade away,
An echo lost at the break of day.
A song unsung, a cry unheard,
A fleeting life without a word.
