In the dimly lit chamber of the Grand Fortress of Grotsmir, a group of hardened, grumpy antagonists gathered around the protagonist, a rogue mage named Finn. Finn was known for his charm, wit, and, most annoyingly, his refusal to ever give a straight answer. And today, the antagonists had one goal: to get the truth out of him.

"You're wasting your time," Finn drawled, giving the group his best smirk as they prepared the tools for his interrogation.

The leader of the antagonists, an ogre named Blurg, cracked his knuckles. "We'll see 'bout that, smart guy. Bring in... the Lie Detector!"

A hush fell over the room as two goblins wheeled in a strange contraption—a gaudy wooden box with flashing crystals, engraved runes, and a single lever on the side. On top of it sat a large, highly suspicious-looking chicken.

"A chicken? This is your lie detector?" Finn asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It's no ordinary chicken!" growled a warlock named Porrim. "This is Cluckles the Truth-Seer. He's been enchanted to detect lies. You lie, he squawks. You tell the truth, he clucks. You ready to talk now?"

Finn looked at Cluckles, whose beady eyes seemed to stare into his soul. The chicken gave a quiet cluck, as if in judgment.

"Fine," Finn said, still skeptical. "Let's get this over with."

Blurg loomed over him. "First question. Where did you hide the map to the Sacred Gem of Gor'thol?"

Finn leaned back and grinned. "I hid it... in the last place you'd ever think to look."

Cluckles stared, then let out a mighty SQUAWK.

Blurg growled. "You lyin' rat. Try again!"

Finn sighed. "Okay, okay. I actually hid it... in the haunted crypt of Stalgrim."

Cluckles stared, unblinking, and then gave a gentle cluck.

"Interesting..." Porrim muttered, writing down notes. "Next question. Did you steal the Amulet of Shifting Shadows?"

Finn shrugged. "Technically, I didn't steal it. It fell into my bag by accident. Could've happened to anyone, really."

Cluckles stared, cocked his head to the side, and SQUAWKED so loudly that he nearly toppled over.

"You're unbelievable!" Blurg shouted, clearly frustrated. "How about this? Are you secretly working with the League of Free Mages?"

Finn scoffed. "No way. Those guys are amateurs. I'd never associate with them."

Cluckles' eyes widened, and he SQUAWKED three times in rapid succession, flapping his wings for emphasis.

Porrim slapped his forehead. "He's lying again. Let me ask the questions, Blurg. Clearly, he's being difficult because you're too easy on him."

Blurg grumbled, but he stepped back, letting Porrim step forward.

"All right, Finn," Porrim said, narrowing his eyes. "Have you ever, ever told the truth about anything?"

Finn grinned wider. "Now that... that is a mystery."

The entire room waited. Cluckles' eyes narrowed. He tilted his head from side to side, seeming to consider the universe's profound mysteries. Finally, he opened his beak and...

He gave a cluck and a squawk at the same time, creating an awful squawking-clucking hybrid noise that made everyone wince.

"What... does that mean?" one of the goblins asked, wide-eyed.
