I was trapped inside the tiny cage,
cut off from the entire world,
My only friend was the shadow,
My shadow so silent, it never spoke.
My wings were pinned, I could not move.
Lungs, What lungs?
They were running out of fresh air,
the joy of life, the people, the laughter.
I had had enough, I could not take more.
Then one day, the cage cracked open.
I spread my wings,
They danced with joy.
Happiness filled my mind and heart,
I was free to do whatever I wanted,
I was free to go where ever I wanted.
The long lost feeling returned to me.
I remembered how it was to be finally free.
