Hi! I'd like to start by saying, thank you SO much for clicking on my story. My name's Anna, and I hope we'll be best friends.
This story started as an idea I had a couple years ago. I wrote a rough plan and it sat around in my Google Docs for way too long until I coughed up a prologue. Said prologue also sat unfinished up until recently when a bunch of ideas came to me and the words just started flowing.
I got the idea from my own love of soccer. (or, football, as it's called everywhere else, and rightfully so) I'm a big fan of FC Cincinnati, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid. I've been a fan of the sport since I was seven years old - I was a player escort for FC Cincinnati's friendly match vs. Crystal Palace. From there, I became obsessed with the beautiful game.
No, I've never played. Even though I still could at my current age, my knees don't work like your average teenager. Especially the right one. It's bad. Please help. I'm destined to a life in the front row, screaming my head off for 90+ minutes. I've even been lucky enough to meet a bunch of players throughout my lifetime. None of them are big names, but I'd still count them.
I have to make a disclaimer - I'm not British. All the British slang terms are ones I have learned from reading, movies and TV, and watching Liverpool's videos on YouTube. I tried my best to make it close enough to the way actual Brits talk, but it's not perfect. PLEASE give me some grace.
Wakefield FC is a completely made up Premier League team. You'll just have to imagine it in place of one of the irrelevant teams. Any character names in the story are thought of by me, and any resemblance or similarity to real people is a coincidence.
Guys, I'm going to be totally honest and say these updates are NOT about to be consistent. You might get three chapters in a week and none the next. I'll try my best not to give you a dry week, though. Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading OFFSIDE as much as I enjoyed writing it. I never thought I'd actually sit down and crank out a whole book, but here we are. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments, I'd love to hear them! DON'T BE SILENT READERS! The whole reason I posted this here was to get feedback.
