Heads up, this chapter is mainly just the character's backstory. We won't see the turtles until the next chapter. Sorry y'all! I promise that the show's plot line will start next chapter, but this part is important, and I just felt that it was better suited as its own chapter. Hope y'all enjoy!

⚠️TW!!! Abusive parents, trauma, abuse (physical, emotional, & psychological)⚠️

If you ever notice that I've missed a trigger warning, PLEASE TELL ME!!!! I promise I'll correct it if you just let me know.

My name is Orfilia. It means orphan...but I'm not one...Well, not technically. Strange right?

My parents never wanted me, so they made sure that every time I heard my name, I would remember that even though we shared blood, they weren't my family.

I've always been different, and unfortunately, to most people, different is bad.

I look normal enough: long, blonde hair, blue eyes, around 5'7", maybe a bit on the bigger side, but it's not what I look like that sets me apart.

It's my mind.

I'm super smart. And I don't mean that in a braggy way. I mean that for whatever reason, I'm way smarter than average. I love anything intellectual, but especially technological. I've been studying and messing around with tech, building my own little gadgets, and inventing for years now.

I think I was around six the first time I realized I love technology. I remember finding an old radio in the garage and being fascinated by it. I loved how intricate it was, and I wanted nothing more than to figure out how it worked.

I took it apart using some of my dad's tools, and then, I tried my best to put it back together again. I was pretty close, too, except the volume dial turned the wrong way.

Every opportunity I got, I snuck little electronic parts and pieces into my room, where I would spend hours experimenting, building, inventing, and just messing around with my gadgets. My favorite thing I've ever built was this little listening device I made out of a pair of old walkie-talkies. I used it to spy on my parents and know what kind of a mood they were in and when they were on their way to my room.

It honestly saved me more times than I could count.

My parents hated me doing anything even remotely intelligent. They wanted me to be normal like other little girls and play with dolls or have tea parties. But that just wasn't me. I loved science, reading, experimenting, and inventing. That's who I really was...but my parents hated that.

So, whenever I heard them heading my way, I'd hide whatever I was working on, grab the toy closest to me, and pretend to play with it. For the most part, it worked, although when it didn't, and they caught me, they'd always punish me for being such "a nerdy little freak".

I tried not to take materials that my parents would notice were missing, and for a while, it worked. But eventually, my dad caught on. And when he figured it out...let's just say that was the worst day of my life.

He destroyed everything. He completely trashed all of my inventions so far past repair there was no way I could ever fix them. He burned my books and ripped up all of my notes. I cried and begged him to stop, but all that did was cause him to start beating me instead. He screamed at me, calling me "a freak, a weirdo, a pathetic little nerd, a disappointment to the Hansen name".

Every single word sent a dagger straight through my young heart. He demanded that I find a new "stupid hobby", so I would be "normal"...He said it was for my own good...but I didn't believe him.
