Cherryblossom

We shared our first kiss under the cherry blossom tree. My left hand, her right Intertwined. We sat there in silence. I knew this wouldn't last. Shortly, she will have to go home. Back to her family. I don't want her to go.

I picked a white flower from the ground, placing it in her hand.

"Hold this for me, will you?" I asked, as I gently closed her hand around the flower. She still didn't say a word. She nodded her head in response.

She began to shift her legs; I knew she had to go. It was dark, and her house was fairly close. She could tell I was going to cry. An innocent smile marked her face as she tussled my hair and walked away.

I sat there in her absence for what felt like hours. I didn't want to go home, I didn't want to be here either. It's cold. Tears fell down my face. I hated being here. All I want is her. I traced circles along my thigh. Listening to the sound of cars driving by, frogs croaking. I did not want to move from my spot. I'd much rather wait here till tomorrow when she comes back.

But she never did. The sun rose, I waited all day. People walked by the tree where I stationed myself at. They asked if I was okay. They asked if I needed anything. And with every question I shook my head no. I responded, every time; "No, I'm just waiting for somebody." Some seemed concerned. I'm unsure why. Is it the dark circles under my eyes, is it how sad I appear. I'm unsure. I Waited. She never showed.

Eventually, I passed out, slept like a baby at the foot of the tree. When I came to, I saw feet in front of me. To my dismay it was not her, it was a police officer standing tall, above me.

"Sir, this is a public park, you've been here for days. Find a shelter." He seemed disapproving, but I was offended,

"Officer, I'm not homeless" I stated, sitting up "I'm waiting for somebody."

The officer seemed displeased with my response and shook his head.

"You outta go home boy. People say you've been out here for days." He holds a hand out as to help me up. "I'll take you home."

I was reluctant, but I took his hand. I'm sure there was a reason she hadn't shown. She cared. The officer drove me back to my house, as I got out of the car, I thanked him.

"You stay outta trouble, you hear me?" He exclaimed as he drove away.

After the man left, my shoulders slumped. I'd spent so much time waiting for her. I Looked around my yard, the grass had grown too long for my taste, the flowers were wilted, and the sky had a gloomy sheen. I could not stand the outdoors any longer. I decided I'd go inside and take a shower. I walked up each step of my porch, grabbing my keys from my pocket. As I made it to the door, I heard a little crunch beneath my feet. It was a sheet of paper. I bent down to grab this stranger paper and my world shattered into a million pieces.

The paper read,

"Hold this for me, will you?" Along, with the white flower.
