I can hear talking coming from outside. Three voices. I walk over to my door and open it, my hair a mess. I sigh and walk out. "Good morning, ladies..."
All three are talking to each other in front of a map, ignoring me.
I fix my hair as I walk over. "What's going on?"
The three are making marks on the map and talking about strategics. They're too busy trying to find the best point of attack to notice. I peek over the hunched men's backs and sigh when I listen to them bicker. I grab a pen and mark one place on the map by squeezing my arm between two of their stomachs.
"Right there. Its so stupidly easily for us to attack without them knowing." I scoff and walk back to my cabin. I slam the door shut and begin getting ready for the day. I change into my fresh clothes and sigh. Its so simple...I don't get how those men didn't get it. Maybe because they're men? I don't know...
They look it over and shake their heads, knowing their mistake and silently agreeing. Sylov spoke up first. "Three AA guns covering the area in the forests. No way we can get in... Not to mention the minefield. That newbie's got something weird going on in that head of hers to get it so quickly..."
I sit on my bed and begin pondering what Sylov said the night before. "Damn it!" I cover my mouth in surprise. Hope no one heard that...
Someone knocks on the door. I had my shirt on my forearms and I huffed. I threw it down and walked over. I opened the door, peeking my head out so I didn't show myself in my bra and pants. "Hello...?"
An M16 slid through the crack I had opened. I hear Arthur speak in his booming, deep voice. "We leave tomorrow morning. Get rest."
"Yes sir!" My heart begins racing. My first real battle with these guys, and we're leaving tomorrow!
"We're gonna fly halfway, then we have to walk the rest of the twenty three miles."
"I can do that sir!" I flash a small smile before frowning and looking away. "S-sorry for smiling about it...battle isn't a joke..."
Arthur makes a grunting noise, and then walking away. I close the door and throw on my shirt. I walk out and go up to Sylov. I tap him on the shoulder.
"Are ya busy?"
"No. what do you need?"
I pull Sylov to the side and blush slightly. "I need a simple answer...do you...r-return my feelings...or not?"
"You'll find out someday. I like to stay mysterious."
I blush slightly darker and look away. "Come on, Sylov...please?"
"Hehehe... As I said, you'll find out someday," Sylov said with a smile, as he cleaned his M16.
I let go of Sylov's collar and walked back to my cabin. I wasn't too happy about that. Why does he have to torture me like that? Damn it, Sylov... I walked in and closed the door. I sat on my cot with head in my hands, sifting through everything I had gathered on Sylov. If I can figure him out, I can figure out his answer... Sylov was a strict Russian male. Also drinks alcohol. He's mysterious, and stubborn, and cold hearted. Seemed to have been injured a long time ago. That was all I had really gathered so far. That one smile was because of my weakness towards him. I doubt it was even real. I get up after awhile, pissed at myself. I go outside and grab some equipment. When I get frustrated, I clean. Its weird, I know, but its better than picking a fight. I didn't need to limp into a battle. Arthur and Drew were watching me, occasionally saying a few words to each other.
