The soft light of the early morning poured into the kitchen, casting a warm glow over Yechan and Jaehan as they sat at the wooden table. Their eyes, though tired from the events of the previous night, held a deep, silent love and admiration for one another. The quiet hum of the coffee machine filled the air, a comforting background noise that accompanied their shared glances.
Jaehan stirred his coffee absently, watching Yechan over the rim of his mug. Yechan, with his slightly tousled hair and the remnants of sleep still lingering in his eyes, looked effortlessly beautiful. Jaehan couldn't help but smile, his heart swelling at the sight of him. The world outside felt distant, as if it was just the two of them, cocooned in their own little universe.
Yechan caught Jaehan's gaze and smiled back, a small, intimate gesture that spoke volumes. Just as they settled deeper into the tranquility of the morning, they heard the footsteps, breaking the spell.
Hangyeom, Kevin, and Sebin shuffled in, their energy contrasting with the soft atmosphere Yechan and Jaehan had created. Hangyeom waved at the pair, his smile wide but his eyes darting between them, a hint of suspicion glimmering beneath his cheerful demeanor. Kevin moved in effortlessly, greeting them as if nothing were out of the ordinary, while Sebin followed closely, his expression more thoughtful.
"Morning, guys," Kevin said, his voice bright and unbothered as he made his way to the coffee machine. "How's our maknae feeling?"
"Good, I guess," Yechan replied, glancing at Jaehan, who had suddenly found his cup of coffee fascinating.
Hangyeom hesitated as he sat in front of Jaehan and Yechan at the table, clearly wanting to ask something but caught in a moment of uncertainty. He exchanged quick glances with Sebin, who nodded encouragingly, urging him to speak. "So, um, what were you guys up to last night? I saw you two leave Yechan's room together in the early morning," he finally blurted out, a hint of nervousness in his voice.
Jaehan's heart raced at the question, and he could feel his cheeks heating up. He opened his mouth to respond but nothing came out, so he just looked over at Yechan with nervous eyes who looked as anxious and embarrassed but still nodded his head.
"We were talking about everything that happened," Yechan echoed, his tone light but his eyes betraying his embarrassment. He glanced at Jaehan, who was still avoiding eye contact, his heart pounding in his chest.
Kevin, who had now busied himself preparing his coffee, glanced at them and spoke up, "You two had a gathering last night and didn't tell me?" Kevin asked, pretending to be upset, seemingly oblivious to the tension hanging in the air.
Hangyeom looked like he wanted to press further, glancing from Jaehan to Yechan, as if trying to decipher a hidden meaning. "You sure? Because, um, we heard some interesting noises," he said, his voice trailing off as he fiddled with the edge of the countertop.
Sebin shot Hangyeom a knowing look, clearly sensing the discomfort. "Yeah, sounds like you guys had a pretty exciting night," he teased lightly, trying to lighten the mood but only increasing the tension between Jaehan and Yechan.
Kevin, still unaware of the undertones in the conversation, laughed. "What, were you two having a karaoke session or something?" He chuckled before turning his attention back to the coffee machine, completely missing the furtive glances exchanged between the other four.
Jaehan bit his lip, feeling the weight of their curiosity. He finally mustered the courage to look at Yechan, who was blushing deeply, his embarrassment mirroring Jaehan's own. They shared a glance that spoke volumes—a mix of fear, confusion, and a silent understanding of what they had experienced together.
Hangyeom opened his mouth as if to say more, but the moment hung in the air, charged with unspoken questions. Jaehan and Yechan remained silent, the weight of their shared secret resting heavily between them.
