Part 1 - Trust Fall

Izuku was like any kid his age, young, impressionable and way too hooked on the idea of becoming a hero. But, unlike most kids his age, he hasn't developed a quirk yet. He didn't have what made everyone so special. His Mom, Inko took him to the quirk doctor multiple times at this point, with nothing changing each time.

"Your son won't develop a quirk." The doctor repeats, every. single. time... It's been said so many times and yet how much it hurts Izuku hasn't changed. "In my opinion everything seems to show that he won't develop a quirk. I'm sorry Inko but your son simply will not get a quirk."

Hearing this crushing news only set the bar higher for Izuku, y'see, Izuku is not the type to just give up. He still ended up studying hero fights and their tactics. Especially the tactics and fights of All Might. Izuku's idol. Because All Might never stops smiling. All Might never gives up.

After some years and coming to terms with being quirkless Izuku realizes just how much harder he would have to work to become a hero. It would make it easier for him if Bakugou didn't bully him as much.

Bakugou would bully him relentlessly after school and pester him about how without a quirk he is a nobody, useless to society. Izuku never paid him too much mind, but some days it's just too much to ignore.

One particular day, he was extra insufferable. During the last period of class, Izuku was muttering about a hero he managed to bump into before showing up to school and scribbling in his 9th Hero Analysis Notebook. After class, Bakugou slumps over to Izuku and swipes Izuku's book.

"What's this?" He asks sarcastically, already familiar with Izuku and his little notebooks. "Some more nerd talk about heroes and heroic futures you know you'll never be able to take part in?".

Izuku can only softly whimper, knowing exactly how his 'childhood friend's' quirk feels like when it burns on his skin. After all, do you think Izuku got to notebook No. 9 without Bakugou finding out?

"You do realize I'm the only person I know that could actually become a hero? No one else has the slightest chance of becoming the top hero like me! Especially not some quirkless loser like you. The useless, defenseless Izuku." Bakugou finishes and burns the book badly before throwing the book out of the window.

Before leaving, Bakugou stops in the doorway to give Izuku some 'advice'. "Y'know, if you really wanna be a hero so bad, maybe just hope you'll be born with another quirk in your next life and take a swan dive off the roof." He laughs to himself as he and his goons leave the room.

On Izuku's way home he mutters to himself under a bridge that he can still be a hero if he works hard enough. He encounters a slime monster under a bridge. He was suffocating and brushing with death for a few moments before All Might destroyed the villain with a Detroit smash. After Izuku regains consciousness and fanboys for a bit, he builds up the courage to ask All Might a question, but All Might is already getting ready to leave.

So like any other super rational and logical human being he JUMPS ONTO HIS LEG AS ALL MIGHT LEAPS OFF THE FLOOR. After holding on for dear life for a bit and All Might instinctively trying to shake him off he finally loses his grip as the realization washes over All-Might's face. The courageous smile immediately drops as he processes what he's just done.

Meanwhile, chaos ensues in Izuku's mind. The whistling of the air around Izuku deafens him as he tries to gauge how much longer he has left to fall. He flails about mid-air and can only hope that someone can see what's going on and can help him. All Might just kept zipping through the air, unable to stop himself once he'd leapt off the floor like that. He tries to muster up a call for help but can't manage as much as a small screech that barely escapes his throat.
