"What's the problem?" Korra asked confused

"Well, you're in charge of the drinks, Bolin's in charge of the party supplies, Iroh is in charge of the cups, plates and napkins, and Mako is in charge of chips, dips, well all the snacks... we're gonna have to go fifty-fifty" Kai kept thinking "I don't even know if I can afford fifty"

Korra rolled her eyes and pulled the boy into the store "don't worry, I got it covered" she said grabbing a cart

"Korra, I don't want to put all this on you, I can get a couple things"

"What? No, you shouldn't be spending any money, it's your birthday week, besides, if I couldn't afford it I would offer"

"Oh I forgot, you sleep with your boss so you practically get golden checks" Kai joked

Korra rolled her eyes "well, I'm only paying for an apartment and insurance, I got extra money" Korra said "and don't ever make a joke like that"

"Speaking of her, you should invite her tomorrow as your plus one" Kai told Korra as they walked the aisles

"Kai, you know I can't" she said as she watched the boy pick out his favorite chips

"Yes you can" Kai crossed his arms

"You know Bolin's bringing Opal, I don't want Opal to know I'm with the boss"

"With the boss? So she's officially your girlfriend?"

"What, no, you know what I mean" Korra pouted and rolled her eyes

"I don't get it, how have yall been in this non-serious relationship but act like you are" Kai was over it. "Besides, who cares what Opal thinks, if anything she won't tell anyone at work and keep it a secret, plus she'll probably praise you for getting with the hot boss" Kai chuckled as he put 3 different types of dip in the cart

"I don't know"

"plus, Bolin's gonna be there with Opal, Mako's most likely bringing his girlfriend and knowing Iroh, if Mako brings a girl so does he"

"Ok and?"

"Everyone is going to be coupled up but you" Kai stopped walking making Korra stop to look at her "Come on, it's my birthday tomorrow"

"Alright, I'll ask her" Korra let out a sigh

"Good" Kai was happy

As they shopped for the party tomorrow. Korra couldn't help but think about the relationship she had with Asami. Ever since last week, they got more comfortable around each other that the times Korra visited, they would actually spend time together, wether it was Korra teaching Asami how to cook, or watch a show together. She was actually having a lot of fun with Asami.

While her and Kai were in the line waiting to pay. She decided to text Asami.

Korra: hey, are we still on for tn?

Asami: yes❤️

Korra: do you need me to bring anything?

Asami: just you is enough

Korra smiled at the message.

Korra: no actually do you need anything

Asami: food😁

Korra: alright, I'll order us take out

"Ugh, she got you smiling on the other side of the phone" she heard Kai gag
