I raced over to August place. I was tryin to call him on my way over there to let him kno what happened but he ain't answer the phone.

August looked at the car and turned around to face it. He pulled me behind him

He told them while steppin towards Dj car. I guess my mama and Tati followed him because they pulled up in his driveway too. They got out and kinda creeped up the hill. Dj came towards August. When he came up that hill all I could see was the fire in his eyes.

Dj fed him a mouth full of knuckles and August fell to the ground

August spit blood out his mouth and struggled to get up. So I tried to help him. Dj looked down at me. The look he gave me shook my soul I had never ever seen him this angry. He grabbed my arm tight and snatched me up. Big T came towards him and he pulled his gun then cocked it.

Big T kept his eye on him but helped August off the ground. Dj let my arm go but pushed me towards his car
Dj: Get in the fuckin car Lexi

He walked away and pushed me towards the car

I was crying and I folded my arms as to say I wasn't gone tell him and he picked me up and put me against the car

He opened the door and shoved me in the front seat.

August went to go get the keys and came back and gave them to her. Once my mom got in my car Tati pulled off, Dj and my mom followed suit. I looked over at Dj and his face had no expression. I thought to myself how could he be so mad. I mean I get it I'm his one and only baby sister but damn I'm 20 years old knockin on the door to be 21 what the hell. I turned around to the window as we sat in silence. To pass time in a twenty minute car ride, what seem like to be forever, I watched the trees and read some road signs. When we arrived at his house still no word from him. He unlocked the doors and got out the car. Tati and my mama got out the cars then headed towards the house, I walked, like a quiet little church mouse, behind them. The walk to the door was seemingly endless. I stepped into the house and shut the door. I felt like a child awaiting a punishment
Janet: Tati go home baby
Tati: I think I should stay
Dj: Go home
His voice roared thru the house, as if he were an enraged lion. My body stiffened, his voice froze me makin it difficult for me to walk or talk. Tati looked at me and my mama then gave her a hug. She tried to hug me but I wasn't responsive to the love she was trying to show.

I somehow muscled up the courage to speak

She stared at me in disbelief then walked out the house.

He walked up the stairs then stopped

I stood silent and he came back down the stairs then stepped to me. My mama placed her hand on his arm.
Dj: You can't and won't see August no fuckin more Lexi I swear to God...
Lexi: Ok damn
A tear fell down my face from me struggling to keep from crying like a hurt child. He went upstairs to his room and shut the door

After I got her water I left. The whole ride home I thought on everything that happened tonight. I took a shower, warmed up some leftovers, turned on my stereo, then poured me a tall glass of wine. I was on my couch dozing off when August called
