Tick Tock …. Tick Tock… tick tock…. Tick tock is all I hear, all day every day from that stupid clock on the wall. The sound alone is so infuriating to hear day in and out, it practically lives in my late night dreams. The sound belongs to the old timey analog clock on my office floor that sits right next to my exact cubicle. it makes me envy those who sit further away from it, I mean at least they don't have to have that dreaded ticking noise in their ears all fucking day long distracting them from work.
Then again I doubt the other people here give half as much of a shit about their job as I do, I mean just right now I see Nina practically frolicking around the office as if she doesn’t have work to do. I mean it's not like she's on her break either, she's just up and about chatting to the other people here distracting them from their own work. I swear I don't even know why they keep her ass on, they should’ve fired her long ago because with the way she behaves she's going to run this company into the ground with her foolish antics.
I mean I'm surprised she even got hired at all. On her first day here she wasn’t even wearing her uniform because “it hadn’t come in the mail yet” which would be acceptable if she didn’t come in wearing a vibrant outfit filled with pinks and purples, hundreds of loose bracelets, a spiked out looking dog collar, fingerless gloves, a mohawk looking hairdo, and the most colorfully dyed hair i've ever seen in my whole life. I mean who the fuck wears that to their first day at a new job let alone anywhere. from that day alone I knew she would be a problem for this company, I even went out of my way to talk about this incident to our boss and he said “that it was alright” alright? Alright!? I still to this day can’t understand how that shit could even be remotely close to alright, if I was him I would have immediately fired her for that bullshit but he didn’t even have the passing thought to give her a warning or lecture about her attire, it was just “alright”.
And even though she now has her uniform she still wears fingerless gloves, a handful of bracelets, and while her hair isn’t as colorful as it used to be it still has some dyed pink highlights and she's just allowed to do that. What’s worse is her attitude, she's always so talkative and once she started talking you couldn’t get her to ever shut the fuck up. She's so full of energy and clearly can't take a hint. I mean obviously people have work to do. I barely feel like doing it because of how exhausted I am from the other night but apparently for her that's the perfect time to start up a conversation. And she does this with everyone and isn’t punished for that behavior either! I just hope the boss isn’t surprised when the whole company goes down with his decision to keep someone like her on the team, honestly I can’t wait for this shitstorm that's been brewing for a few years blows up in his face because when that happens i’ll be right there with him gloating about how i was right and he was wrong about keeping her as a worker.
“Yo, you good man?” I turn to my right to see one of my other coworkers, anthony. “ You look absolutely pissed man,” he said before leaning down to my level and whispered “is it that dreaded clock again?” he playfully asked “Well that is indeed part of it but it's also the fact that nina is distracting everyone from their job, like what if we all fall behind because of her? I don't want to be dealing with all the shit” he lets out a chuckle.
“Come on man you need to chill out, she does this all the time and never once have we ever fallen behind on our work.” I scoff, the thing about Anthony is that he was always nonchalant about everything, there was nothing that happened that could ever make him worry nor make him not become amused at how much we were opposites in that way. Compared to most people I found Anthony one of the lesser annoying ones yet he was still a bit irritating too because of the fact he never paid much mind to anything at all and when he did he just didn’t care that much about it. He was literally careless about anything and everything, he considered everyone on our floor his buddy and he most definitely thought of me as his best friend. I personally don’t know why since I don't see him in the same way he sees me. He's just my coworker and nothing more, plus work is no place for friends, it's just for work. That's why it's called that after all.
