If you know what her favorite book/show/movie is, then start with that. But don't mention any deaths of characters (yet). If you're interested in being more than just friends, then I suggest a cheesy pickup line related to her favorite book/show/movie.

Once you have selected your topic, casually bring it up.

Example (for just friends): Hello, have you heard that they might be making the third Percy Jackson movie?

Example (for more than just friends): Hello, are you from the Percy Jackson fandom because dam girl!
