As soon as our hands parted a serious look plagued my face.
"We need to get out of here!"
Not waiting for his reply I stand up and look around in an attempt to cook up a plan.
Spotting the way we came from, I was about to rush over there when suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder, and my heart sank.
"What is it Mint?"
I ask, fearing his answer.
"We both know running is useless at this point. We can't even get this bracelet of you."
He pointed out and immediately I could feel my throat swelling up again.
"No, I mean, no! Th-there is always a way, right? I haven't lost just yet!"
I attempted to persuade him, to deny the hard truth. I could see it in his eyes, this hurt him too. And despite that, he just slowly shook his head with a defeated expression.
"You said you'll get me out of this."
I sob, my face puffy from everything. His grip on my shoulder tightened.
"I am!"
I looked back at him perplexed, he couldn't mean, no-
"GIVING UP IS YOUR WAY OF GETTING OUT OF THIS?"
"Think about it (y/n)! I think it's best for you and EVERYONE ELSE!"
"OH?? So this is about others again! I should have known-"
I avert my gaze with an eye roll when, with a tug, I'm forced back.
"Listen to me!"
His words were harsh, harsher than the grip he had on my cheeks. Tears rolled down my face, he had my attention, he was right. I know but I-
"Darling, you won't be exorcised. But this simply can't go on! Be truthful, are you actually having fun being king? Or are your own rulings gnawing away at you?"
Shakily I removed his hand from my face, I wasn't sure, so I didn't reply.
He sighed placing his hand on my head and then ruffling it gently.
"We'll figure this out, together."
He offered softly and I bit my lip.
"You are right."
It hurt, it hurt to admit, and all I wanted to do was to continue childishly pouting, but this wouldn't get me anywhere.
"...(y/n)?"
I could hear a familiar voice and Mint immediately retreated his hand.
"...kou-"
I breathe out, not ready to turn around and face him.
"J-just let me explain!"
I start and he cuts in.
"Oh? So there is a reason why you mindlessly stomp over any other supernatural?! I thought YOU would know how that is!"
My nails dig into my palm and sweat pools on my brow. I look over my shoulder glancing at him and- my heart leaps, right besides him was the supernatural boy from before, the one I had beat up.
"You misunderstand, he used to torture me back when I was a Mokke!"
I turn towards him trying to explain myself.
"Your way to deal with that is mindless violence? Seriously!?...I-"
He breathes out and looks down to the side, his brows furrowed.
"I should have known."
My voice trembles, my throat hoarse.
"YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS! HE HURT ME FIRST HE HAD IT COMING FOR HIM!"
"I never did you stupid bitch! You might be mistaking me for my brother or my dad BUT I NEVER DID!"
the boy yelled and my lips pressed together, my sight blurred by tears.
As finally one rolled from my eyes, the boy definitely looked like the guy, the eyes perhaps were slightly lighter, the hair a little shorter, his body a somewhat slimmer...oh, oh no.
My words caught on my tongue. I- I definitely had thought he was the one, but it looked like I had been mistaken.
"Oh shit-"
I breathe out, taking a step back. I had been too consumed with rage to even second-guess it.
"(Y/n) With your underlying issue, I don't think you are fit for the role."
NO! NO!! SHUT UP, SHUT UP!!!
I took back another step; this couldn't be happening, and just before I could take another, Mint's arm blocked my way.
I looked up at him, unsure of myself, but he was the opposite; swiftly he took my hand and placed his other on top of it.
"I'm here with you."
Mortified, I don't care to listen to what he has to say and try to pull my hand back.
His eyebrows soften as he studies my expression. Conflicted he looks to the side before folding a leg under him, his palms a cocoon of comfort around my hand.
"No matter what happens,"
He starts tenderly before gazing up into my eyes.
"you'll always be my king."
My heartbeat calms my focus fully on him now.
His cheeks were a pale pink similar to his eyes, which were filled with hope as he looked up at me.
Feeling the blood rush to my cheeks, it was too late to retreat my hand now. And I wasn't sure if I wanted to, as if his mere touch filled me with courage.
I nodded, not having the right words to express my appreciation right now, and he let go of my hand again and got back up.
I wipe my lashes from the remains of tears.
"Kou..."
I started feeling the frustration build in me with each thought that I had to forcefully put into words. I was reluctant, still not convinced.
"you are right. But let me explain. "
The young blond's face softened as he waited for me to elaborate.
"I had mistaken this guy for another person, which doesn't make this right but I just want you to know, I didn't just want to harm him for the sake of harming him."
Kou's arms are folded, his finger tapping on his forearm as he continues to listen.
My eyes swished nervously over to his older brother, who was staring me down, noticing that the shorter one replied.
"Hey, eye's on me!"
Startled, I look back at him again and admit
"I, uh, sorry, I was just...he makes me nervous."
Kou's brows lift as he explains.
"You are not getting exorcized."
I relax slightly and breathe out a sigh of relief when Teru cuts in.
"That would be letting you off the hook way too easy."
I gulp, that's it, I'm cooked.
"Look guysss, I'm just a mokke-"
