July 1st, 1964

It's early morning on a Monday. Nobody likes waking up on a Monday, surely people should know. Birds chirping in the background outside, the sun shining its rays through the closed curtains. Mike is still in bed, fast asleep and sprawled out in an odd position. His snoring can be heard, even from just outside his own bedroom door. It's 7:30 AM, and it seems Mike's alarm went off, but he didn't hear it. He's going to have to get up at some point and get ready for school.

Some minutes went by, as a sudden knock on his door could be heard. He stirs in his sleep, shuffling around in his bed slightly as a voice from behind the door speaks up.

"Mike, hunny! Come on, you need to wake up now. It's 7:35 and you have to get ready for school!" Mike's mum was outside his door, telling him to wake up and get ready. He groans into his pillow, not even in the mood for school at all. But since he has no other choice, he lazily sits up on his bed, shifting off to the edge as his legs dangle down. He stretches his arms into the air, standing up as he does so before walking over to his wardrobe to pick out an outfit for today.

After picking out a simple outfit, he heads over to the kitchen, where he can see his mum cooking breakfast. He sighs to himself quietly, sitting up at the table with a tired expression on his face still.

"Morning, mum.." He says groggily, rubbing his eyes with his hands as he tries his best to wake up. His mum looks over to him, smiling softly as she places breakfast onto a plate.

"Morning, dear. Did you sleep well last night?" She asks, looking over at him with a soft smile on her face. Mike nods slightly, resting his cheek in his palm as he watches breakfast being served onto a plate.

"Yeah... Yeah, I slept fine. I'm still a bit tired though." The tiredness in his voice can still be heard, since he had only woken up a couple minutes ago. He watches as his mum brings over his plate of  eggs and bacon with some hash browns. He thanks his mum softly before digging in, devouring his food which gave him slightly more energy than before. After he was done eating, he washed up his plate, placing it into the rack before grabbing his school bag off the couch.

"Hey mum, I'm leaving now. Love you." He says, making his way over to the front door, waiting for a response.

"Bye hunny, love you too. And do well in school today." As she said that, Mike exits the house, making his way to school. He knew for sure that this was going to be another long, boring day of the same old stuff. I mean, nobody likes school, right? Whoever does, then... He doesn't see why. School is literal hell and a prison, what kind of person finds it fun? Definitely not him, that's for sure.

Time went on, Mike finally made it to school. As he arrives, he notices his best friend Russell standing by the gate. It looked like he was waiting for Mike for quite some time now. Mike made his way to where Russell was standing, tapping him on the shoulder. Russell jumps slightly, turning around to see Mike standing there behind him.

"Hey, you finally arrived." He says with a slight smile. "Took you long enough. What, did you sleep through your alarm again so your mummy had to come wake you up?" He teases, a slight smirk forming on his face as he folds his arms over his chest. Mike rolls his eyes, huffing slightly at what he just said.

"Ugh, shut up man." He huffs. "Stop teasing me about my mum having to wake me up just because I slept through my alarm again for the 5th time." Russell chuckles slightly at Mike's words, clearly amused by what he's saying. Russell rolls his eyes playfully, before both him and Mike make their way to class.

"So, what class do you have first?" Mike asks, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his jeans. Russell thinks for a moment, trying to remember what class he had in the first period.

"Uh, I think I have History first." He says, re-thinking before confirming it. "Yeah, I have History first period. What about you?" He turns his attention back to Mike as they continued to walk more into the school.

"I have math. I literally hate that class." He groans, clearly not excited about going to math as he is quite terrible at it. Russell chuckles, agreeing with what he said. He didn't like math either, as he didn't usually understand some of it. Even when he asks for help. As they continue walking, the bell rings for first period class. Both the boys groan, saying goodbye to each other as they separate from each other and head off to first period. Today, is surely going to be a long one...
