i nodded quickly, a gentle laugh escaping my lips at their argument. "yeah." i greeted him with the same smile i had recieved from him before.
"anyway.. dawns like you, just not a dick." she gave him a half assed smile with her joke. "dawns like a cup of coffee in the morning, shes always nice to me unlike you."
"okay, this is just bullying now, i could report you to the school for this." he shook his head jokingly, pretending to wipe a tear from his face.
i couldnt help but shake the fact that sean had such a warm personality to him, i wouldnt have as much confidence as he did when i introduce myself to people, god i sound like i have a crush on him.
"earth to dawn!" lyla clapped infront of my face to snap me back to reality. "okay so, have you got your locker code yet?" she asked me as we waited at the bus stop.
"uh yeah, i was told there was an empty one somewhere near a chemistry class." i stated, turning to lyla.
"oh, you might have the one next to me, its been empty for awhile now." sean smiled, adjusting his bag on his back.
"oh thats cool, now ill have someone i can walk to classes with." i smiled, i felt like i couldnt stop smiling around lyla and sean.
"mhm." he nodded, turning back to the road, his skin glistening in the sun, he had a few acne scars on his cheeks that i noticed, why am i paying so much attention to him?..
as i heard the bus approach i stood up, stretching lightly as i adjusted myself. i grabbed my bag off the floor and followed lyla and sean up into the vehicle.
"dawn, dawn, come sit here!" lyla patted the seat next to her, i quickly sat down as sean was on the one vertically next to us.
"so, lyla said you like the streets?" sean asked, it was obvious he didnt want it to be awkward between us. cute.
"oh yeah, they're pretty good." i nodded, an inviting smile written on my face. "but they arent as good as the arctic monkeys, no way." i added.
"i mean.. they are cool but come on, its the streets." he slouched faintly in his seat as he said that.
"nobody tops them, thats my final decision." i laughed slightly, seeing he liked little bits of conversation.
"you guys are such dorks." lyla commented, a smile tugging on the corners of her lips.
"you love it." i nudged her slightly, a smirk on my face. "come on."
"ugh, i guess i have to." she rolled her eyes sarcastically.
a solid twenty minutes went by as we pulled up infront of the school, sean let out a deep sigh as he stepped out of the bus.
"lets help you get to your locker!" lyla tried to cheer us up as we walked.
sean turned toward me with a curious look on his face. "so, lyla said you were a cali girl." he smiled.
"yeah, was." i looked down, god i feel like i shouldnt miss it. "ill return once my exile to seattle is over." i joked.
he chuckled lightly at my way of words. "was it nice there? my dad enjoyed went there once." he commented. "i heard its like.. super awesome."
i looked up at him slightly before turning back forward. "its hella awesome, almost everything there is." i smiled thinking about how cool it was back there.
"hella?" he giggled awkwardly before he spoke. "whats hella?"
"just something we used to say back in cali." i smiled, crossing my arms.
"hi guys lylas still here!" she clapped to get our attention, we quickly turned to her as we went through the doors. "anyway, i have to go to my first hour of hell now, i'm sure sean will take good care of you dawn, dont worry!" she waved us off with a 'bye bitches!' before turning away.
"what an intresting girl." i blurted out. "not in a bad way, shes just so.."
"weird? yeah i know trust me, i've dealt with it for ten years." he laughed slightly as he took me down a hallway toward two lockers. "here we go, im sure your teachers will give you your books later."
"oh yeah, nice." i nodded, looking at the remains of ripped off stickers and old gum in the corners of the box. "i'm in.. english first period, you?"
"chem, god i fucking hate it." he stated, his voice laced with annoyance, he turned toward me slightly, his expression changing to one of awkwardness. "hey, you dont mind if i get your number do you? just so we can chat and stuff."
i smiled at his gesture, agreeing with him. "i was gonna ask the same thing, dont worry." i took a post-it note out my pencil case and copied down my number on it before handing it to him. "ill see you later sean." i smiled before turning to the english and languages hall.
"bye dawn." he gave a half assed wave before walking his way, a light smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
