We met our heroine on her first day in the new town. She quickly found out where the local races take place, so she came to look around. The one thing that is interest her is who is the "king" or "queen" of these streets.
Her arrival surprised everyone, and more so, that she had a bike that many are dreaming of. She parked on the side and took off the helmet, stepping down from the machine. In a second, she was surrounded by a crowd of nosy people, asking questions. She answered their questions with a calm voice.
After 20 minutes in the distance, they could hear motorcycles approaching, most likely. Every conversation stopped, and all the gathered people were making space for the upcoming guests.
As we can imagine, as soon as they entered the track, they started to "show off" by doing different tricks. Everyone was impressed. Well, almost everyone.
For her, their tricks were child's play. She didn't pay attention to them as she was talking on the phone.
She heard someone clearing their throat behind her, and with a sigh, she ended the phone call.
- Anything specific? - she asked while turning around.
Her eyesight spotted eyes which were supposed to be "seductive", but to her these were funny, and because of that she had to stopped herself from laughing.
Before her was standing quite tall boy with black hair and brown eyes. He was kind of muscular. He measured her with his eyes up and down, and smirked.
- Yes - he said - Are you new? I have never seen you here before.
- Congratulation, bravo for perceptiveness - she clapped sarcastically - I am and so what?
- Nothing much, just curiosity.
- No one taught you that "curiosity is the first step to hell"?
- No.
- Oh, how unfortunate - she said sarcastically.
- So, will you say something about yourself? - he asked, leaning on her machine.
She looked at him disgusted.
- No, because you just broke the golden rule of every race.
- I have never heard of that - he said.
- What an amateur - she sigh - There are three basic rules that are present in this environment, about which even an idiot should know. First, the golden rule: "Never touch a machine that is not yours without the owner's permission". Second, the silver one: "Keep underage people far away from races". The last one, platinum, is: "Never do something that might become the interest of the police". I thought that Derek did a better job preparing his successor, but I was wrong.
She shook her head and put on the helmet. She wanted to get on her bike, but she was stopped by the boy standing next to her.
- How do you know Derek? - he asked.
She took her helmet off again with a sigh. Without answering him, she took out her phone and selected a number. Not so far away, they could hear the phone ringing. Everyone turned in that direction. They saw a man looking at the screen with disbelief, and in the next moment he looked in their direction. At the moment his eyes met hers, he started walking her way without thinking.
- C - he said.
- Derek - she replied - Tell me why our rules are not respected?
Derek hung his head low, not knowing what to say to her. After a little bit of silence, she put her arm on this shoulder.
- Have a phone with you - she said - I will call you in a few days and we will make an appointment for a meeting.
He nodded in agreement.
- And now - she turned around - Move away from my bike. Our conversation - she pointed at herself and Derek - Will also include you. See you later.
She put on her helmet and drove away.
- What is going on Derek? - the boy asked.
- Jared - Derek spoke - You will know everything in time.
Without saying anything else, he got into his car and drove away.
