"[y/n]! don't forget to grab some groceries and cat food on your way today, it is your turn this week!" waved Alana as they parted ways for the day, classes had just finished, though they'd reunite at their shared dorms at their uni. Her dark hair flowing behind her as she walked away. [y/n] always admired how carefree she was, Alana has always been they for them when they needed her the most, always been their rock to lean on. They wish that they could do the same for Alana but they knew it just wouldn't be the same.. didn't stop them from trying though.
[y/n] knew that they were starting to grow feelings for Alana but they were too far into the denial river in Egypt to even admit it to themselves let alone to Alana.. [y/n] would rather their friendship remain the way it was instead of risk ruining their friendship over their feelings. Besides, they didn't want to make things awkward with the person that they are sharing a room with plus they were sure it would make Alana feel deeply uncomfortable and that's not what they want to do. So, [y/n] will keep their feelings to themselves for Alana's comfort.
"I will!" Shouted [y/n], completely unaware of what was about to happen, something that would flip their life upside down. Thus they began their trip to the store.
About halfway to the store, a little sight caught their attention. "Mr. Whiskers!" [y/n] exclaimed, completely overjoyed by the sight of a black and white tuxedo cat. The cat looked up at [y/n] before waltzing on over, tail up in the air. "Hi kitty, are you being a good boy?" [y/n] giggled as they pet the cat, loud purrs being released from the cat. "pfft, of course you have, you silly boy" [y/n] ruffled the cat's cheeks admiring how fluffy he was before entertaining themselves with a laser pointer. Mr. Whiskers chased the little red dot around for a while; but [y/n] knew that they only had a limited amount of time before it would be too late. "that was fun, glad to see you Mr. Whiskers!" [y/n] pocketed the laser pointer, continuing their trip to the store.

They hurried down the road, almost in a sprint but not quite fast enough to be considered sprinting. [y/n] wanted to get to the store in a timely manor, before their preferred store closes as it was less than an hour for when the store closes. They passed by many trees, cars, and people.. must be a busy day or something.. eh, just a normal day for them. "Just get to the store, grab what you need, then get out..' [y/n] muttered to themselves.
then they stopped.
there was a purple triangle just floating there, glowing, spinning almost as if it's doing it own little dance. it looked as if it didn't belong to this world, almost as if it was a way to another world but that wasn't possible not even in the slightest. it seemed to omit ever so slight electrical bolts, if not observed closely; it would be missed.
"what is that?" [y/n] cocked her head to the side, debating on whether or not she should touch it. they crouched down next to it, observing the way it moved, fascinated by it's mere presence. Not a single sound other than the slight noise of electricity came from it, almost so silent, it wouldn't be noticed; which seemed to be the case for a lot of people. Simply too busy to notice a slight difference in their day to day life.
"Although I'm curious, I need to grab groceries for the week, Alana grabbed them last week so it's my turn to grab them this week... but floaty thing.." [y/n] continued to sit there, surely the groceries could wait for just a few while [y/n] figures out what the floaty thing is...
Right?
I mean, all they had to grab anyways was just a few fruits and vegetables.. oh and some wet cat food for the neighboring stray cats the both [y/n] love to feed every morning and afternoon. one of the common cats they'd feed was a slightly chonky orange cat. Both [y/n] and Alana couldn't figure out as to how he got into that situation, he was too friendly to have simply only been a stray, he had to have been someone's pet.. hopefully he still is someone's pet but unfortunately they knew that was just wishful thinking. His fur was too rough to be someone's pet.. They made a promise to themselves that they would take him in once they finish Uni, but since the dorms didn't allow pets other than service animals on dorms; that was not an option at the moment. They let out a sigh as they focused back on to what their goal was.. cat food and groceries; but that floaty thing was really calling to them, and they felt the intense urge to just reach and touch it..
not a single soul even batted an eye at it other than [y/n] which they couldn't fathom as to how but then again y/n has a deep curiosity for everything in the world. Let alone how nobody has even so much as attempted to figure out what that thing was puzzled them further. What would be the harm in touching it? Not like it would do anything.. besides, what's the harm in it? But damn, they needed to get groceries, after all it was their turn to do so. Besides, doing it like that allowed both them and Alana to save up money and put it away for their groceries and cat food.
"fuck it, I'mma touch it" ZAP! A loud electric zap was heard before [y/n] vanished from everyone's sight.

"my back..." a weaker voice from below.
