Not all people are good people, Spider-Man. Some people, you just can't save.
✶
Tony Stark was a murderer. Years ago, the Battle of New York had left the city in ruins, buildings demolished and lives thrown to the wind; Calvin LeBlanc had simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time, trapped beneath the rubble and eventually dying from his injuries. Not a shadow of an apology was given by the Avengers ─ no room for grief or empathy ─ and the rest of the world just kept on spinning. His body went undiscovered for two whole days.
Briar LeBlanc had been only ten years old when his father died, and it was from that moment onwards he swore to get revenge someday. And he wasn't the only one seeking justice: Adrian Toomes began to formulate a plan for vengeance. Stark had taken his business partner, his best friend, and his damage control company in one fell swoop. It was about time that somebody showed him the pain he had forced others to swallow. But he and his team couldn't do it alone ─ they needed a soldier, someone young and bright, malleable under their control, able to be manipulated so easily. Who better than Calvin's own son?
Over the years, Briar was trained to become the most efficient boy soldier in New York City, with help from his mentor and family friend Adrian Toomes, and the Chitauri technology they kept hidden right under Stark's nose. When he turned fifteen, Toomes finally told him that he was ready to step into his destiny and put his skills to use. From countless sleepless nights and months of tinkering, Briar was at last gifted his new identity: the Viper. A suit crafted from the finest Chitauri technology they possessed, able to enhance his abilities as well as conceal his true self.
So, the destruction began. The Viper became an infamous name throughout the city, haunting the night and vanishing by the morning. Day by day, he slowly got closer to his end goal: to eliminate Tony Stark.
(And Adrian Toomes had the kid wrapped around his finger.)

Peter Parker did not envision having the life of a superhero. All his life, he had dreamed of being something greater ─ although he had no idea that crusading through the streets as the Friendly, Neighbourhood Spider-Man was actually a lot more work than he had thought.
