a/n-rereading this is making me cringe so hard so i'm thinking of editing it to make it more of my current writing style if that's something yall would be interested in
"would you like your receipt?" the cashier, an older woman, asked.
i shook my head, taking my bag and giving her a polite awkward smile. i felt slightly bad for walking out on gavi, but i thought of jess and i just knew i needed to be there.
i sat on a bench, the sun was just barely beginning to set, so the whole city was covered in a golden hue. kids were playing soccer in the streets, many of them had jerseys of players i knew.
i smiled as they laughed and did their own celebrations. most had beat up tennis shoes and a couple had painted them to match their favorite team.
i pulled out my phone and checked my flight, it was in three days which i'm sure jess could've handled.
but i felt something in my gut. i needed to be there.
"fuck it."
