Nitya clenched her fist trying to control the storm going on within her. Yes , she couldn't get the best grades again. Once again her hardwork went into vain. All those sleepless nights , hours and hours of studying went into drain.

Her eyes slowly averted towards the top of the list and there was his name.

Aadrik Sehgal.

One name she loathed from the bottom of her heart. Obviously he was , is and will continue to be the topper.

After all what else can you expect from a guy who used to solve the questions of grade 12th when they were students of grade 10th
Closing her eyes in frustration Nitya walked back to the classroom settling on the bench with her head in her hands.

She studied a lot for this test. More than her limit. And here was her result.with just four more numbers increased from the previous test.

And they say hardwork pays off!?

What was she gonna say to her mom?
Her dad? Who were spending lakhs of their money for her education. Their disappointed faces flashed in her mind.

Her face turning hot and red. Tears gathering around the corner of her eyes.
"Nitya!" Arvi called out placing a hand on her shoulder as she turned around wiping off a few of her tears faking happiness.

"Kya hai yaar?" With a smile on her face Heeta asked controlling her urge to sob her heart out.
(What is it?)

There is no value of emotions beta.. They'll only make you weak. Her mumma once told her.

"Result dekha?" Arvi questioned with a serious expression.
(Saw the result?)

Well , Arvi was a little more weaker than her in studies yet they turned out to be good friends. Sharing some of their academic problems with eachother.

"Jane de na yaar , chill mar..Ye sab ata jata rahega.." Nitya spoke taking out her textbook on the table pretending to read it but all her mind could think off was the same disappointing result again and again.

(Leave it , take a chill pill..These things keep coming and going..)
Minutes later the whole class stood up as their physics teacher Mehra Sir entered the classroom.

He smiled at the students which wasn't really mirrored by everyone.

"So your mock test results have been announced and Aadrik once again broke his own record by scoring 287 out of 300 , congratulations beta..." he stated while all the students clapped for him.

Some with a grin , some with a poker face while some disheartened.
Nitya did the same too , unwantedly.

As the classes began students went busy taking notes and as the theory portion completed.

Mr Mehra turned around with a cheeky smile

Here we go again... The amber eyed Nitya thought with a mental eye roll.
"Now time for some questions.." he began settling on the chair taking his iPad..

"A person of height 1.6m
is walking away from a lamp post of height
along a straight path on the flat ground. The lamp post and the person are always perpendicular to the ground. If the speed of the person is 60 cm per second
the speed of the tip of the person's shadow on the ground with respect to the person is how many cm?"

Everybody turned silent as the question completed. Their glares fixed on their teacher as if he has sprouted three heads.

"Sir ye question hai ya Nani ki kahani?" Vishal one of the students sitting behind Nitya asked while the rest of class giggled.

(Sir , Is this a question or grandma's story?)

"Shayad ek question.." Mr Mehra replied with a hint of sarcasm.
(Maybe a question)

Nitya tried her best to solve the question her hands working in a hurry as She kept on writting and crossing the solution but her attempts to reach the answer were not satisfied when a familiar voice was heard.

"Sir , is the answer 40 cm?" Aadrik asked keeping down his pen , his face blank as usual while his black eyes showed no ounce of happiness on solving the problem like other students.

With frustration lacing her mind she glared at him who sat at a distance of four benches from her

Agh! Topper kahinka!

Her hands rolled into a fist with her jaw tensed as she controlled the urge to punch him right on his face.

Raising an eyebrow Mr.Mehra enquired back "Sochlo beta.."
(Think before you answer)

"Sochliya sir.." confidence was evident in his tone as he replied and the class knew that their great topper can't be wrong.

(Already thought , sir)
After all , he has won three damn olympiads!

Pausing for a moment the physics teacher smiled at him before he got up writting down the solution and not much surprisingly. Aadrik was right , yet again.

"Okay class , that's it for today , hogayi chutti , jao jee lo apni zindagi aur ha kabhi galti se book bhi khol liya karo nalayako.." giving a last statement Mr.Mehra left as all the students sighed in relief packing their bags.

(Okay class that's it for today..your free time starts now.. go and live your life and yes sometimes by mistake try to study something)

Soon enough the whole class was empty with four or five students left behind who used to do self study after the classes.

Nitya inhaled a deep breath trying to calm herself down knowing that she has to study for atleast four more hours now.

Minutes later she began solving some Maths problems setting her target unaware of the person who looked at her secretly from the corner of his eyes with an admirable gaze before he looked down with a shy smile negatively shaking his head as he busied himself with the black book.
