Summer officially ended today.
This is my 11th first-day back at school. Not looking at all these faces for awhile was definitely needed.
Here we are again, the usual high school game. High school is indeed a game. It's not hard to tell; teenagers putting so much effort to impress one another. Pretty lethal considering that everyone will be there ready to judge. I'm not paying much attention though. I enjoy watching the show
"Hello my dear Nicole , where you've been all summer stranger?"
There she is. My lovely best friend Sandra. I simply cannot express my love for this angel
"Come on, you know I was on vacation with my parents and our family friends I couldn't do anything about it. Buut, I'm here now with plenty of time for you" I told her as I playfully hugged her.
"Yess I know I'm just teasing you. So, tell me everything I need to know about."
I know where this is going
"You want to know about Aiden, don't you"
"Yes. Spill it"
"I've already told you he's just a family friend of mine, I don't like him, he doesn't like me, so I'm begging you to stop questioning me about it" I said really fast as I'm tired of being asked about him.
I've known Aiden for 3 years or less. Our fathers work together and we ended up having a really good relationship with the Wright family. We've been good friends since day one and we had so much fun during the 3-week vacation this summer. We also go to the same school but I rarely see him due to our completely different schedules.
"Really? Like for real? You feel nothing about him besides friendship?" She says so surprised she almost looks sad about it
"Sorry to disappoint you" Sandra is the kind of the match-maker friend, the one trying to find you your soulmate.
The bell rings and the students gather altogether waiting for any announcements before we enter the building. I spot Aiden nearby and try waving at him but he doesn't seem to notice me. Whatever I'll talk to him later.
After welcoming us back in school we made our way to class. Today's lessons won't be much of a teaching one. Just sharing our experiences from summer. I reach the class. Oh my god. A whole new class. New classmates. This has never happened before. Hopefully Aiden is in the class. I walk over to him to seat next to him but his friends take all the seats available.
Again he doesn't notice my presence. I don't pay much attention to him. I take a seat just when the teacher enters the classroom.
"Good morning kids, long time no see right? Well you know today we don't plan to start any of this year's curriculum. Why don't we catch up a little about summer? Winston, where'd you go for summer break?" Mr. Brown says. He's the youngest teacher in this school, not older than 35 years old. His youth makes him the most likeable teacher here. He knows how to treat nowadays' students. After asking some random people about their summer he finally asks Aiden the same question.
Aiden looks up to face the teacher. He has really sharp characteristics. Straight eyebrows, deep brown eyes and almond shaped. His hair however dirty blond with golden strikes. He speaks
"I did nothing special. I pretty much stayed here and hang out with friends." He says not mentioning our vacation. "I did go on vacation but they basically forced me into it so I didn't really enjoy it" he says. I can feel my expression turning into pure confusion full of the irony, I frown. Is he doing all this on purpose?
The bell rings once again notifying that today's classes are over.
"Thank you for today kids, see you tomorrow with your books ready to start another awesome year" says Mr. Brown.
Well definitely someone else's year won't start as awesome as excepted.
