Hawks POV
Hawks was waiting outside the door to see you. After talking to you yesterday, he saw the chance for a friend. He felt his feathers trembling in excitement.
A few yards away, he caught sight of you. Good. But you also caught sight of him. Not so good. He watched as you started walking backwards.
"Hey! Hey you! Giman Tekina, yeah?" Hawks flew over there, wings pumping, before landing gracefully on his perfectly human feet for your information. He couldn't go to one public event without someone asking if he had bird feet. It was annoying to be pestered so often, just relentlessly.
"Hey! Hey! Hey! Don't try to run away, I just wanna talk!"
"Don't you ever just shut up?" You seethed at him, your brows turned downwards.
"Not really, no. Have you ever flown before?"
"Uh... no. Planes are expensive. And also helicopters." You snorted, crossing your arms.
"But what about wings?" He unfurled his crimson wings to their full length. "Those are free. Well, for you they are."
"Gee, how sweet." You muttered sarcastically, wrinkling your nose at him.
"...well I thought so..." He blinked, shaking his head to refocus. "Come on! Lighten up. Fly with me!"
"And how would that work?" You asked skeptically, crossing your arms. "Would I have to hold onto your feet? Because I'd rather not dangle like that."
"Pfft, no! I could hold onto you from... behind, like... I dunno... or carry you bridal style or something..." He trailed off, scratching the back of his neck.
"Nope. Definitely not."
"C'mon, we could figure something out!" Hawks said indignantly, smirking.
"I have work to do. Go away." You pushed past him, through the door, and he let out a disbelieving scoff.
"You really aren't like anyone else, huh? Most people would be jumping at the chance to even be around me," he noted curiously. He didn't seem mad or disappointed, just... surprised. "You're... odd." He grinned wider.
You rolled your eyes, ignoring him. He noticed something.
"You wear leather gloves," he remarked aloud.
"I work with machinery," you pointed out bluntly, not even looking back at him as you spoke, still making your way towards a table with tools, blueprints, and broken gear that looked like gauntlets. "It's not uncommon."
"...fair enough." He tilted his head slightly, eyes glinting with curiosity and amusement.
Hawks watched as you picked up one of the gauntlets and inspected it with a groan. He personally didn't have much hero gear, or really required much, so he was curious of this piece's purpose. "Hey, what does that do."
"It launches a nuke to obliterate idiots who ask too many questions." You glanced up at him, a smirk tugging at the corner of your lip.
"Haha, really funny," the feathered hero replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes at you. He grinned lightly. "But seriously."
"These are cooling gauntlets. Endeavor had these made a few months ago, but they're faulty and so he ordered me to fix 'em up," you responded absent-mindedly, prodding the inside of the gauntlet.
"And... how is poking it going to repair it?" He snorted, leaning against the table.
"It's odd... these are cold on the inside, so they're working fine..." You muttered thoughtfully. He watched you scribble something down on the blueprints. You suddenly picked it up and slam it against the table, breaking it in half.
