We had managed to creep our way down to the platform that overlooked the settlement. The sight of it was awful. A pile of rotting, bloated bodies was just barley ten feet away from us. It smelled like hell. I can't think of any other word that describes it. The way into the settlement was guarded, but we could see into the settlement decently well.
The clearing in question made up the center of the settlement. It was easy to watch what was happening. Two beasts, one lizard and one rat, were rolling around on the ground. A tall chair sat at the far side of the clearing, and someone, assuredly Darren, sat in it. I watched something glint in his hand.
As the fight wound down, he stood up. The rat had clearly lost, and he walked over to the two of them and dismissed the lizard. Then, before the rat could even stand up, the glint swung. A crunch rang out. The glint again. Another crunch. It continued like that until the head of the rat had vanished. I threw up.
"That's awful." I said.
"Death shouldn't be that slow." Said Key as he knelt beside me. "Quick death is fair. That's evil."
We watched as another match began. The match wasn't long enough to warrant how it ended. Another loser was bludgeones to death by the glint. Then, it happened again. Then again. When the shadows began to swallow the clearing, they stopped.
"We have to stop this." Key said as he tossed a rope over the platform's edge. "Tonight."
