"You wouldn't," I said, chuckling as I hugged her. "I bet you would be a very depressed person without me scaring you, is that right? How is it that you're 17 and yet you still get scared like a cat that sees a cucumber?" I teased her often– she was definitely used to that. Ate booped my nose and giggled.

"How is it that you're 10 and you're doing all of... this? You're powerful and smart AS FUCK. You are undeniably more gifted than I am," Ate spoke out. She huffed a little before continuing. "I kinda wish I was like you, but I'm glad to be me!" The gleam she had looked illusory. In some instances, Ate was slightly more optimistic than I ever was, while I was slightly more pessimistic.

Ate sat me next to her. "Tonight, we're gonna do a small TV night. We're gonna watch things we both enjoy! An example is Demon Slayer."

Oh hell yeah, I love Demon Slayer.

The both of us watched it for a while, then we just decided to just sleep. I was comfortable in the safety of my home. I felt nothing was going to happen.

...........

The next day, I was walking when I saw Pip. She seems like a Stanley cup girl. I randomly thought. I didn't want to be rude, so I didn't say a word. But she does look nice today.

"Look who we have here!" I exclaimed.

"Nice to see you again." Pip gave me a handshake, which pleased me. "I saw you yesterday, but you seem like someone I'm related to that I'm not related to. I know, I'm a Ms. Obvious." I chuckled. "No shit sherlock," I said. "At least you're nicer than most teenagers these days."

"True. As a teenager, why not be polite through life?"

Suddenly, I heard a woman's voice. "Pip! Time to go, you're gonna be late for dance class."

She sighed. "That's my mom. Gotta go!" And with that, she left. Fuck. Great. I kept walking through town. For some reason, today seemed odd...

Ronnie... BREATHE.

Calm down!

Fear isn't going to help me now, is it?!

I sighed and kept walking. I should've biked today. But, I didn't really care. I decided to take a different path. Anxiety was probably going to kill me later, but I ignored it for now. The path looked like something out of a horror movie, but this isn't a horror movie, so everything SHOULD be fine. It's not guaranteed, but I'm not gonna be negative already; that's just plain on stupid. Although, I'm already kind of negative.

After a while of walking, I found this weird, metal and iron and other crap, fenced up area. The area looked forbidden.

Could it be..?

With curiosity wracked up in my brain, I took a step back, charged at the gate and dropkicked it. It did no shit, except leaving my legs slightly sore, but nothing a little massage couldn't fix. I massaged my leg and looked up at the building. It was huge. "Is this the lab?!" I scream-asked. I pulled out my phone and looked at a screenshot of the lab. This looked to be the same. I climbed the fence to take a closer look. I landed on the ground with a flip, but I landed just right. I'm hallucinating. No freaking way.

But then, I heard some strange, technical noises. And multiple voices.

"OH FUCK, THIS GIRL BROKE IN."

"CHASE HER DOWN!"

Oh motherfuck me.

I climbed over the fence, jumped over and bolted the hell off before whoever those people were could even get to me. I got scared for my life right there. How stupid. I'm aware of that.

......

It's been at least a week since that incident, and now, it is summer break. I was so happy. It seemed my parents' trip will last two weeks, and sadly not one. They were able to make it for my sister's junior year graduation, as their boss gave permission to stay for at least a day for this occasion. It was sad that she was going to be a senior next year. But, that means she has to be ready for what comes next in life. I have a feeling not a single high school in the world would not do that, but I don't know that, and that high school does for juniors and especially seniors.

My phone was ringing, and I saw it was Dai calling me. I answered it instantly.

"Hi, just thought I'd call you up, Ron!"

"Eh, it's okay. How's your day, man?"

"Not much is happening. Except Keiko being a straight up dumbass."

I sighed. "Knew it. But she's a nice gal."

Dai chuckled. "That is true."

"Well I gotta run. Bye!"

"See you."

I hung up.

.........

As I was chilling in my room, I heard tapping on the window. Loud and thunderous.

What the heck is going on?
