Cypress was raised by their mother. Their father was the king of their tribe. Cypress's father was the husband of the queen, but he had a dragonet with Cypress's mother.
The Queen did not know of this, and stayed married to Cypress's father. Cypress knew that their father was The King, and often avoided the palace, in a effort to stay away from their father.
But whenever Cypress turned 9 years old, rumors began to spread.. That The King had a affair with another dragon.. And that they had a dragonet.
Cypresss father panicked, and ordered a assassin to kill both Cypress and their mother. Cypress fled with their mother, and went to Jade Mountain. However, the assassin found them, and killed Cypress's mother.
