Unlikely Love

Chaper 2. Waiting

Lisa and Jisoo stood in line at the airport, patiently waiting for their turn to order coffee. As they chatted, Lisa suddenly became lost in thought.

"Hey Jisoo, I'm curious," Lisa said, leaning in close. "Why am I staying with Jennie instead of my uncle?"

"Huh?" Jisoo replied in confusion, taking a step back. "I don't know... maybe his house is far, or what."

Lisa furrowed her brows in thought. "But I don't really know Jennie that well. We've only spoken on video calls. It's a bit odd that she's the one I'm staying with."

Jisoo shrugged, looking around at the crowded airport. "Maybe your aunt Gretta is staying with us too. You never know."

"I don't think so," Lisa said, shaking her head. "Gretta only mentioned Jennie in the phone call."

As they reached the front of the line, Jisoo asked, "Hey Lisa, how old is Jennie anyway?"

"I think she's 37," Lisa replied vaguely. "Why?"

"Oh, only a 7-year age gap between us two!" Jisoo said, grinning mischievously.

Lisa raised an eyebrow, feeling a little uncomfortable with the direction of this conversation. "Jisoo, that's inappropriate..."

"Oh, come on!" Jisoo exclaimed, laughing. "It's just a joke, Lisa! Relax a bit!"

Despite feeling a bit embarrassed, Lisa couldn't help but smile at Jisoo's silly behavior. She was always making her laugh, sometimes in unexpected ways.

Jisoo was intrigued and asked Lisa what Jennie looked like. Lisa was trying to scroll through her phone to find a picture of Jennie, but she was struggling to find one. Jisoo grew impatient and asked Lisa what the problem was.

"Oh, my phone's not working properly," Lisa replied, frustrated.

Jisoo offered to help and Lisa handed her the phone. Jisoo found a picture of Jennie and showed it to Lisa. Jisoo gasped in surprise.

"Wow, Jennie looks like she's only 20 or something," Jisoo exclaimed, shocked.

Lisa glanced at the picture and nodded. "I know, right? She's 37, but she looks like she's still in her 20s."

Jisoo was stunned and asked Lisa, "How is that even possible?"

Lisa shrugged. "I guess it's just good genes or something."

As Jennie finished wrapping up a patient's care, she heard a notification on her phone. She pulled it out of her pocket and saw a missed call from Lisa. She immediately called Lisa back, who answered on the second ring.

"Hey, Lisa! What's up?" Jennie asked, surprised to hear from her old friend.

"Uh, hi Jennie," Lisa said, her voice a bit shaky. "It's me, Lisa."

"Of course I remember you, Lisa," Jennie said with a smile. "I haven't spoken to you since college! How are you?"

"I'm good... I'm also with someone right now," Lisa said, her tone becoming more awkward. "Jisoo, my friend... we're actually on the plane right now and..."

Jisoo suddenly appeared on the phone, and Jennie was shocked.

"Jennie! Wow, hi!" Jisoo said with a huge smile. "I can't believe how young you look!"

Jisoo was amazed at how young Jennie looked and couldn't stop talking about it. As they both got ready to board the plane, Lisa, who is always the more reserved of the two, grew increasingly embarrassed by Jisoo's behavior. She finally got fed up when Jisoo tripped and fell, causing the two of them to miss their boarding call.

Jennie couldn't help but chuckle at the sight as Lisa and Jisoo scrambled to catch up. As they made their way through the crowded airport, Lisa couldn't help but smile as she heard Jennie's sweet laughter, remembering how much she valued their friendship. Jennie noticed the small smile on Lisa's face and smiled back, relieved to see that everything was all right between them.

Once they arrived at the airport, Jennie made a mental note of when the flight would arrive and went to do whatever she needed to prepare for their arrival.
