rory's pov
"okay what is happening with you two?"
im interrupted from my argument with chris about wether or not the middle seat of an airplane gets both arm rests, (THEY DO.) when Liz suddenly yells that, silencing everybody in the car.
"what? nothing." i reply nonchalantly, but when i look over at chris i can see a look of hurt before it suddenly wipes away and i'm left with a blank expression again. Liz opens her mouth again but i speak before she can say anything. "i was drunk, okay? that kiss meant absolutely nothing."
"nothing?" chris suddenly asks, lifting his head up to look at me. his eyes flicker across my face before i respond
"yeah, it was a mistake. i was drunk and didn't know what i was doing."
i was expecting some sort of relief being passed from everybody in the car but instead i was met with dead silence and strong tension. i look over at nick who just clears his throat and faces forward, everybody else seemingly copying his movements
"kissing me was a mistake.?" i hear chris say, i almost missed it from how quiet and small his voice was. i furrow my eyebrows, of course it was a mistake, he thought so too.
i see him clench his jaw before he turns and faces forward, turning his attention that was once on me to outside the window. matt reaches over the dashboard and turns the volume of the song that was playing down, a song i had added. Alley Rose, by Conan Gray.

my ears perk up at the lyrics. i had liked the beat and melody of the song, but not once have i ever actually listened to the lyrics and understand what they meant. i continued listening and realized the awkwardness of the car was also partially caused by the fact you could easily apply chris and i to this song
