After 2 and a half hours of goofing off on VRChat, completely moving on from the conversation, we went to bed. Ate was letting me skip school, because she felt I needed some time off it. How could anyone be this caring? I felt lucky to have a caring older sister, and a pretty one too. Even if she was a bit of a douchebag, I loved her. Along with Mom and Dad too, of course.
As I was walking, it seemed my friends all skipped school that day. I had a little idea for Dai, since I felt he could do it. I bolted towards him and jumped on his back so he could piggyback me.
"WOAH!" he shrieked, nearly falling down onto the pavement. "What are you doing?! Don't make me fall down onto the sidewalk and possibly get injured."
"Can you piggyback me?" I asked, really wanting to do it. For some reason, I had always loved piggybacks, whether I was the one on someone's back or I piggybacked someone else. "Please? I really love piggybacks. No matter what crap I'm going through, a piggyback would matter in my life right now. The most random things calm me down, whether it's stimming or challenging myself to complex, high school level math problems. So may you do it? I'm not gonna burn you alive, I SWEAR. I SWEAR ALMIGHTY."
Keiko, Dexter and Charlie looked perplexed on how I could talk this much. But, I feel grateful that at least they know a bit more about me now. Many people may question me how I became friends with this bunch and gave them so much trust. Socializing always scarss me, but at least I have people to talk to about it.
Dai shrugged. "I don't see why you shouldn't get one. I don't think I could piggyback anyone else but you at the moment." As he said this, he lifted me so I could piggyback. This reminded me of when my family would always do it. They still do, just not very often.
"Guys, what about we try to find that damn lab again? I may sound like a whiny piece of crap, but I'm fixiated on finding more info about my backstory. I know a good portion of it at this point," I spoke out as I took a breath to continue. "I still don't know everything. Not yet. So I will be comitted to doing this mission." I had to take yet ANOTHER breath since I was talking REALLY fast. "Dai, may we talk about something in private real quick before we do this? This is kind of important." I said that last sentence very firmly. He nodded straight away, and we began to walk to a secluded area.
Dai was walking beside me. He put me down prior, as he opened up his mouth and began talking. "So, what's on your mind there, Ronnie?"
"Did you ever find your family...?" I was genuinely curious about this. "This sounds very personal, but your story was very depressing, how I just HAD to know this."
"I could tell you my whole story, since I only told a short version of it."
I nodded. "Go on."
Dai took a couple deep breaths. "So, on March 7, 2009, is when I was born. My family wanted to get me an education at six months. Don't know why, but they got tricked. They thought the lab was a school and let me go there. But as soon as I was brought in... my freedom was taken... my life was not the same anymore. And I was one of the stronger people. They made us hold our breaths for more than 5 minutes, made us fight, and more inhumane things I don't want to speak about. Sometimes, we were tortured or beaten up. And if we tried to escape... death was the consequence. We even had to watch someone die in front of us one time. At times, they would 'restart' or 'reset' people. It's where they drain your brain and you are left in a tube. You no longer are yourself after that. There's more to that process, but I forgot. One day, when I was 7, I managed to stop time, and busted out."
The bewilderment... anxiety... sadness... it all piled up into me at onc. "Dai... I'm so sorry..."
"It's fine," he said. "I managed to find my family. It seemed whoever ran the place eventually forgot about me as I was never on the run. I actually do remember seeing you there a few times after I turned 7. But I escaped, so I had no idea what happened to you though. We live a normal and happy life now. Keiko knows my story, since she's my cousin." He took at least two deep breaths before going on. "Like I said, I was enhanced, but not like you. You weren't even considered human anymore!"
"Wow..." I was still perplexed by everything. "Let's get back to the others."
After he let me piggyback on him again, we got back to the others.
"Ready to try to find the lab?" Dexter asked. "Because I am SO READY!"
Both of us nodded. "Finally!" Keiko exclaimed. We were uncertain if this was gonna be a full adventure, but we didn't really care, as long as we completed even part of the mission.
We began to walk for a little bit. We walked past the sights we saw during the past walk. We didn't let our distractions get the better of us. Well, maybe I did, as I got lovely ADHD, making me more prone to distractions. This will definitely be a while, I thought, as we were walking. But I don't mind. I'm into adventure, but I wonder what's going to happen when we get there.
.....
After hours and miles of walking we found a large, white building. "Is this it?" I questioned. Dai shrugged. "I kind of forgot, honestly. At this point, it could be a school."
"Listen here buddy, we're not in North Korea." Charlie teased, sending us into fits of laughter. "North Korean schools don't look like THIS, ya idiot!" Dexter shouted. I huffed.
"Stop yapping. You're acting like preschoolers." A purple surge flashed, and time stopped entirely. I was staring, my eyes were purple. I was the only one unaffected; I was the cause. Predator. Madlad. "You guys just couldn't shut up now, could ya?" I was giggling like a freaking witch. Sometimes, I look like a pussy. "Not trying to be a dick or a slut or whatever over here but... I had enough."
"You are strong," said Keiko, but it was all in slo-mo. I sounded maniacal when I laughed– no wonder why I'm a dangerous error. I stopped everything.
Charlie pointed to the doors. "Okay guys, let's quietly go in real quick."
We went inside. Everything looked... white. It was weird. "Huh," said Dexter. "This feels uneasy." And it did. It felt REALLYuneasy there.
No matter what, if anyone never believed me, they should just know that something about this was scary.
"HEY!" a voice yelled across the building, making us jump. The person then walked out. "WHAT ARE YOU KIDS DOING HERE?!"
We all started silently laughing. "Go!" I whispered, as we all bolted out of the building in a flash. "What the hell?!" Dai exclaimed.
"I recommend we go home now." Everyone agreed. "Race you to the halfway point! On your mark, get set, go!"
We all ran as fast we we could.
.....
I won the race.
"Damn!" Keiko panted, literally looking tired as hell. "You used to be on the track team, GUARANTEED."
"I never was."
"WHAT?!"
"Welp, I gotta get going now. See ya!" I walked home. When I got home, I saw my sister. "Ey, Ron!" We hugged. "How was your day?"
I was laughing. "Amazing! I had a fun time with my friends!"
Ate laughed along with me. "I can tell. You look TIRED." She sighed. "You know, I wish I had friendships like you. I have friends, it!s just we don't really go out every day, but at least some of them are at swimming with me. But they're not much of runners. We respect that no matter what."
"You sound like you have nice friends."
"Ronnie, you have even better friends!"
"Still, your friends seem chill. They look interesting to be around!"
My sister chuckled. "Well, I'll let you go."
I went upstairs to my room and looked on my phone. I then saw a text message from a random number.
: i know you're expt. 999-999
"WHAT THE HELL?!" I blocked the number immediately.
There's a very good day destroyed by this.
It's time to be more careful and comitted.
