When she arrived she saw Spencer waiting at the main door for her. She and him hugged and she felt her heart flutter in her chest. It was sweet the way he embraced her.
"How was your case? You didn't talk much about it and I was a little worried…" she admitted to her worry for his safety and he smiled at her.
"It wasn't an awesome case. That's why I haven't talked much about it. I don't wanna bring your happiness down." She nodded before she kissed his cheek.
"Thats so very kind of you." She noticed the blush that spread across his cheeks and she giggled. She never wanted to admit it but she ached for his hug. Which was a big warning sign that she was getting too emotionally involved with him. However, she did not mind at all. "Shall we go to your apartment, handsome?" She asked and he nodded with an embarrassed smile. She wrapped her arm around his arm as they walked towards the elevator. She knew he hated elevators but he was the one who chose to enter the elevator so she didn't say anything. She loved the warmth that radiated off of him and she wanted to snuggle into that warmth. She stared at him with a smile and he smiled back. She noticed his eyes glance towards her lips and she leaned into him. Placing a gentle kiss on his dry lips and when she looked at him she saw something inside his eyes metaphorically break. His eyes narrowed before he kissed her again however, this kiss was more aggressive than her kiss. He was needy to say the least and she could tell. The way he held her tightly and never let her go as he devoured her. She held onto him as he pushed her into the wall with a somewhat gentle force and his hands gripped her waist. His mouth leaves hers before trailing down her neck and kissing her.
He bit and licked the soft skin of her neck as he left a trail of marks leading down lower. They forgot they were in an elevator until they heard the ding that announced their arrival to the right floor. He quickly moved away and readjusted himself to make himself look presentable. She also stood up straight as she pulled down her skirt into an acceptable position instead of its original rolled up place. She cleared her throat before seeing the elevator doors open and noticing the floor number. The same floor her mother lives on! That's a crazy coincidence! Spencer led them down the decorated hallways and she absentmindedly followed. She hummed softly as they walked down the hallway together.
"Close your eyes, I don't want you to see my passcode." He ordered and she nodded softly as she closed her eyes. She heard the beeping from the keypad and then she heard a soft ding as the door audibly unlocked. He led her into his apartment before she could open her eyes and so when she did open her eyes, she saw the beautiful bookshelf of his. Littered with way too many books for anyone to ever need. Then she noticed the subtle mess of papers on the coffee table and she walked over to the table. Picking up the papers and reading over the files to which, she realized it was his case that he was just on. As she looked over the file she felt a hand touch her shoulder and she looked up towards Spencer. "There's a good Thai place that does take out, would you like any?"
She smiled before nodding to him. "Yes please, I'm starved." He smiled softly before leaning down and kissing her once more. Then the kiss ended and he walked away to call the place or whatever, leaving her alone to snoop around. Would she really snoop around in his personal life? Yes. She stood quickly before jogging to where she thought the bedroom was and she twisted the handle before entering the room. A neatly made bed and a cluttered bedside table. Small amount of clothes in a dresser and in his closet he had hung suit jackets, vest and dress pants. The floor was carpeted with a soft plush carpet that made her smile. The bedpost was brown and smooth. His desk was a dark wooded one with a small white ceramic cup of coffee on it. She noticed a paper on his desk and picked it up.
…
Wait. That's.. that's my letter to my mom…
The realization hit her like a truck as she dropped the letter on the desk once more. She walked away from the desk but tripped on a small book that was scattered on the floor and she fell onto her back on the ground. The sound of her falling caused Spencer to run into his bedroom.
"Abagail! What happened? Are you okay?" He asked as he leaned down to her. He went to touch her but she pulled away from him. "Abagail?" His voice was soft and confused.
Her head was screaming at her to just leave. To run and hide from this problem like she's been doing already for years. She stood up on her own without his help and backed away from him. Walking to his desk she grabbed the pink piece of paper to show him that she knew. "Why didn't you tell me you were getting my letters! You never once wrote back to me!" She felt the anger build inside herself.
"I wrote back! You never stopped writing to me! I tried to tell you that you weren't writing to your mother!" His voice raised in defense.
"Bullshit! I never got any letter from this address!!" She angrily crumpled up the piece of paper and threw it at him.
"No! I sent you a letter!! I even have the scrap letter I wrote originally where I was apologizing for not realizing sooner! Don't you dare blame me! You just didn't receive it! This isn't my fault!" He wasn't yelling but he wasn't being quiet either. She saw how one second his face went from narrowed eyes and furrowed brows to a relaxed face that was almost sad. His shoulders slumped as he stared at her. His eyebrows furrowed in sadness instead of anger. "Abagail…"
She didn't even realize that she had started to cry until she felt the tear fall down her cheek. She frowned as he tried to reach out to her. She slapped his hand away and she crossed her arms.
"Don't touch me! I'm leaving. Enjoy your stupid Thai food and letters." She was mad. She was so mad and she just needed to get out of his apartment before she had a meltdown. She ran out of the room and out of the apartment. She hoped that he would chase her and that he would calm her down. But, he didn't. Of course he didn't and now she was trying to start her car but for some reason it wouldn't even start. She groaned before slamming her head into her steering wheel in aggravation. She got out of her car and called her brother, hoping he'd come pick her up. He answered after one ring.
"Hello? Is everything alright?" He asked as he heard her sniffle on the other end of the phone. Before she could answer she felt arms wrap around her tightly and at first she thought it was Spencer. She was hoping that it was him, however, this person was far more stronger than Spencer was. She felt them put a cloth to her nose and she struggled against their strength. Eventually, she couldn't keep her eyes open and she dropped her phone as her body collapsed into theirs.
Then, everything went dark.
