"Yeah I zoned out a bit." He placed his hand upon her shoulder with a smile.
"You're a dork sometimes Abs." He ruffled her hair and smiled as he sat down next to her.
"I know, how have you been though? I bet the tour life isn't all butterflies and rainbows!" Abagail giggled and smiled towards him.
"Better than a nine to five desk job at some finance company." Abagail rolled her eyes. "Don't roll your eyes at me, that's rude."
"A nine to five job isn't that bad, you just have a wild spirit." He grinned as he walked towards her kitchen. She followed him willingly as he opened her auburn cabinet and got himself a glass. His laugh made her smile and the way he poured himself a glass of water brought back a small memory to her of when they were younger.
"Abs, you know me, the wild child who got away." He took a sip from his water. She missed him to say the least. She hadn't seen Evan since they graduated highschool. He had left not that long after he graduated. It was nice seeing his shaggy brown hair that covered his eyes. 'He really needs a trim,' she thought to herself before smiling.
"You should visit your parents more often, they miss you." She stated and she saw his smile turn into a frown.
"Our parents, and I know I'm just… busy." He sipped his water once more and looked down at his hands. She gently placed her hand on his shoulder and smiled.
"I know, I'm just saying. They miss you." Evan smiled softly as he put down his glass of water before wrapping his arms tightly around Abagail. Giving her a tight squeeze of a hug which makes her groan uncomfortably. "Evaaann, I can't breathe." He gave one more squeeze before letting go of her. She breathed heavily from the lack of breathing she had done not but a few minutes ago. Evan looked like he was about to speak before Abagail's home phone went off. Thinking it was Spencer, she happily ran towards the phone and picked it up.
"Hello?" She greeted through the phone excitedly, however, she was met with no voice on the other side. So, she assumed that they must've not heard her greeting. "Hello?" However, there was still no response. Now she was getting freaked out. Then, she heard a voice on the other end that spoke the most terrifying words to her.
"Abby, my dear. Come home." A familiar voice spoke to her. Her heart was beating in her chest as she tried to figure out what was so familiar to her about the voice. The tone and the gruff expression made her feel nervous.
"Who are you?" She asked calmly or as calmly as she could and she tried not to get a rouse out of them. She understood what Spencer went through at his job and she understood how to pick up on behavior. However, she definitely wasn't as skilled and put together. When the person never responded and just hung up the phone she let out a breath that she didn't know she was holding.
"Who was it?" Evan asked her as she put the phone down. He gave her a soft smile that made her relax instantly.
"No one, it's nothing, don't worry! Just someone in the building being a jokester." Abagail dismissed the call and tried not to think about it.
"Right, do you wanna watch a movie or anything? Besides, you need to gossip to me about Y'know, Mr. Smarty pants." He winked at her and she rolled her eyes,
"Righttt, I'll tell you all about him." They walked to the couch and settled in to watch a movie. In the middle of the movie she fell asleep on his shoulder and he gently ran his fingers through her hair.
"Sleep well Abs" a kiss to the forehead, so content and sweet. He'd always been kind to her, ever since she was a little girl.
