September
My eyes were forced open by the bright, warm light of the morning, I sigh. I slept on the couch every night, which really sucked, but I lived with my aunt and I wanted her to be the one to sleep in the bed. Besides, that'd be selfish of me to sleep in my own aunt's bed and force her to sleep on the couch. I stared up at the ceiling with an emotionless face, trying to think of the ups and downs of my first day at university today, but all that came was sadness and despair. I wanted to be hopeful that it'd bring a new chapter in my life, but instead, all I saw was disappointment. I shifted on the couch, the soft blanket tucked around me losing its tight hug as it slides off the couch. I sleep without clothes, so I just... lay on the couch naked for several silent moments, I was a short border collie – 5'8 – , I poked my excited friend as it wiggled slightly before steadying again. I was 20 and had hazel blue eyes, people called me girly due to my skinniness, minimal muscles and unnecessarily long eyelashes. If you saw just my face, you'd think I was some bottom-ey border collie slut girl. I didn't really care though. I was never really made fun of it. Morning wood, always hated morning wood..
I get up from the couch as I make my way to a closet, grabbing a set of clothes; some ripped skinny jeans, a basic white t-shirt without any printing, and boxer shorts, I tucked my white shirt in as I look down.
I grab a white sweater with blue trims and highlights and zip it up, packing my stuff in a small bag and swinging it over my shoulder, I decided to do all my morning stuff when I get to my dorm Ashley Paulina Nelson, that was my name, Yeah, girly, I know, but I don't think too much about it, I was a native Canadian who ran from home at 15, you'll get to know more later. I grabbed my keys from the front door, brushed my fur down, and left the house without saying a word, twirling the keys around my finger, I get to my car; a Lada Niva 2131. Sure, not a very expensive car, but it works perfectly and I have no reason to get a better one. I start the engines as I insert the key, twist it and the car beeps to life, I place my hands on the steering wheel, feet on the pedals, as I drive off.
The orange-purple morning sky was seen anywhere I looked, filling the atmosphere, it was nice, I guess. I kept driving ahead, feeling like a knight guiding my trusty metal steed through the barren wastelands of war. That's what life felt like anyway, barren. Before I knew it I was pulling into the driveway of Pineview University, those exact words placed in bold letters on the front wall of the university, illuminated by blue lights behind the foggy glass, I looked around to see what you'd expect from a University, a bunch of kids sitting on their asses and chatting, not even in their dorms, actually communicating with each other, crazy.
I parked my car in the enormous maze of cars and got out, locking the doors with my car remote, I stuff it in my pocket and check the time. Great, I'm early.
I made my way through the main entrance, the other kids not batting an eye at my femininity, just chatting with people, most of them are those degenerate spoiled kids that wear backwards hats and... ugh...
The thought of those disappointments makes my skin crawl in disgust, but I brush past them, not making eye contact, I enter the main atrium as a voice calls to me.
"Hey! Newbie! Toss out the trash, will ya!" I stopped dead in my tracks, I felt my lips tighten and my muscles stiffen as I spun to see a group of 4 animals, one was a jacked wolf with a scratch over his left eye, the other was a semi-muscular tucan who actually looked more shy, and the other two were foxes, one a female with your usual big tittied-vsco girl-ass appearance, clearly plastic surgery was a main component, and the other was a lanky male who looked like a stereotypical nerd without the main nerd elements (No offense, not saying they look bad or anything). In response, I just snarled and turned my back on them, continuing to walk away, 'Take out the trash?' That's unoriginal. I was interrupted by a ball of crumpled-up paper slamming into the back of my head, I was close to them, arm length, my occupied paw let go of the backpack slung over a single shoulder as I tried to hold in the urge to punch this asshole square in the jaw
Breathe, breathe, breathe, Ashley, bre...
fuck it.
My sheer anger carried my fist toward the wolf's snout, I landed a punch little more than a gust of wind on the wolf, the atrium of students soon erupted into laughter and chants for "Brody" That's your name? Brody? that just furthermore proves how much of a dick you are! Although I did literally no damage, I seem to have ignited a flame inside this assjob, he cracked his neck and then balled his fists as he slammed his chest like a fucking ape, I realized what I had just done and stepped back, I felt my small tail warming between my buckled knees, I look around at the crowd as they laughed and mocked me, I began to hyperventilate..
And next thing I knew, I was slamming the door shut to my dorm, I lunged into my bed and took the first chance I could get to release all of my anger and screamed at the top of my lungs into my pillow, a bellow filled with sheer anger, this shit already feels like a shitty highschool drama, I felt my lungs weaken and my throat itch, and I went silent, face buried in my pillow, at the brink of finding the nearest sharp piece of metal to stab myself in the heart with. Then I heard a voice, this one wasn't one I recognized as an asshole or a girl who wore too much makeup, in fact it wasn't even a girl, it was a guy, his voice was slightly raspy and just slightly deeper than most others. I shot up and darted my eyes around, fur frizzled up, before my eyes settled on a fox, he was built almost like me, not too skinny, not too muscular, he wore casual clothes, and had headphones rested around his neck, holding one of the ears of them indicating he just took them off, from what I saw he was reading a book, I couldn't read it too well, but I did make out the text "Cake" with two animals on the cover, unclear what they were, the fox spoke again.
"You alright, dude?"
