"Oh for goodness sake. I am trying to sleep here. Nick just go with him" Cassandra said surprisingly loudly considering her head was still buried in the pillow, Strand smiled as a thank you slipped out his mouth - Nick sighed turning his body as he placed a kiss on Cassandra's forehead, he really didn't want to leave her, but Strand seemed desperate

"I love you baby" he whispered still half asleep Cassandra hummed in response trying to fall back asleep, smiling at Nick's sleepy voice, she loved it. His voice when he was sleepy or just woke up was so gravely and deep. She could listen to it for hours.

Nick pulled away from her grabbing his top off the floor, placing it on as he stood making his way towards Strand who was still hovering at the door, throwing a glance at Cassandra. Seeing her long dark hair sprawled across the pillows as a soft smile crept on his face as he admired how beautiful she was. Nick never found anyone as close to or as beautiful as her, in truth he had never really been attracted to anyone but her - yes he could be a flirt but that was more his playful nature or trying to get a rise out of Cass

It could have something to do with the fact she had been his best friend, one of his only constance in his life since they we're twelve.

The first time he saw her, she was sitting alone in the playground and he wanted nothing more then to make her laugh. Cassandra always sat alone because she always felt more mature then the others, so when Nick came over acting all goofy, it actually made her smile but she was still hesitant so he believed she didn't like him
And she thought he would never want to be friends with her, she didn't know how to be friends with him since it had always been just her and her dad

He stood up for her a few days later, some kids were picking on her for being weird because being quiet and mature was weird for them. In that moment Nick became someone she trusted, someone she saw as safety and that never changed, even as they got older. she knew he was reckless but She knew he would always keep her safe.

the two were inseparable, she tried to keep him out of trouble yet would follow him everywhere and he gave her freedom, the freedom to be a child or whatever she wanted to be.

At thirteen, they shared their first kiss together. And that was the moment both of them realised, they couldn't be friends forever.

They loved each other before they even knew what love was. They were each others first everything, first kiss, first time, first love.

But for a while they were terrified to lose there friendship, both of them afraid the other wouldn't like them back. Nick shook his head at how stupid that sounded now, but to a younger Version of themselves it would have been the worst thing ever if they lost their friendship

when Nick dated other girls Cassandra use to seethe in jealousy not knowing all he could ever think about was her. And if she said the word he would have been hers.

when Cassandra got a boyfriend, Nick was livid. Eventually it got to much, to the point Nick kissed her infront of him - Cassandra made her choice there and then, despite everyone else, it would always be Nick

Nick shook his head, memories fading away. He smiled hearing her soft voice

"Don't get him killed Strand" Cassandra warned, yet to both of the men standing in the room they could tell she was still half asleep but it made Nick smile at how much she cared for him even when her brain wasn't awake, like it was instinct
