Laianna sat in the familiar comfort of John B's house, the sounds of laughter and chatter providing a temporary respite from the turmoil swirling within her. But despite the warm atmosphere, there was a palpable tension lingering in the air, a silent reminder of the rift that had formed between her and JJ.

As she glanced around the room, taking in the familiar faces of her friends, she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at her insides. JJ's absence loomed large, casting a shadow over the otherwise cheerful gathering. Laianna couldn't help but wonder where he was, what he was doing, and if he was thinking about her.

Lost in her thoughts, she barely noticed as the conversation around her shifted, the playful banter of her friends fading into the background. She felt adrift, disconnected from the world around her as she grappled with the weight of her own emotions.

It had been three days since her confrontation with Rafe, three days since she had stormed off in frustration, feeling defeated and alone. And in that time, she had tried to bury her feelings beneath a facade of indifference, to convince herself that she was better off without him.

But the truth was, she missed him. Missed the easy camaraderie they once shared, the effortless way they fell into step with each other. And now, with JJ's absence serving as a constant reminder of her own shortcomings, she couldn't help but feel a pang of regret for the choices she had made.

As the hours passed and the night wore on, Laianna found herself lost in a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. She wanted to reach out to JJ, to apologize for her mistakes and make things right between them. But the fear of rejection held her back, a nagging voice in the back of her mind whispering that it was already too late.

"Laianna?" Kiara's voice cut through the haze of Laianna's thoughts, pulling her back to the present moment. Blinking away the remnants of her reverie, Laianna turned to face her friend, her expression a mixture of confusion and concern.

"Yeah?" Laianna responded, her voice tinged with a hint of distraction as she struggled to refocus on the conversation at hand.

Kiara regarded her with a furrowed brow, her gaze searching Laianna's face for any sign of recognition. "Are you okay?" she asked, her tone laced with genuine concern. "You seem...distant."

Laianna offered a weak smile in response, attempting to mask the turmoil brewing beneath the surface. "Yeah, I'm fine," she replied, her voice lacking conviction. "Just...lost in thought, I guess."

Kiara studied her friend for a moment longer, clearly unconvinced by her dismissive answer. But before she could press further, Sarah chimed in from across the room, effectively diverting the conversation in a new direction.

"Laianna, come join us!" Sarah called out, gesturing to the group gathered around a makeshift game of cards. "We need an extra player."

Laianna hesitated for a moment, torn between the desire to retreat into her own thoughts and the need to reconnect with her friends. In the end, the pull of companionship proved too strong to resist, and with a resigned sigh, she pushed herself to her feet and made her way over to join the others.

Laianna's fingers hovered over the keys of her phone, her heart pounding with uncertainty as she composed a message to JJ. The weight of her words felt heavy in the silence of the night, each letter a testament to the tangled mess of emotions swirling within her.

With a shaky exhale, she typed, "Hey JJ, I know things have been weird. But we all miss you. I miss you. Please come over soon." Laianna sighed and set her phone down, her gaze drifting to the star-studded sky above. She wasn't really expecting a response from JJ, but all she could do was hope.
