Today is April 13, 2024. Almost two months ago when I started to write again after such a long time—8 years to be exact. Hindi ko akalain na matatapos ko 'tong Paper Promises within two months.
Maybe, for others, twenty chapters plus prologue and epilogue seems short. Pero umpisa pa lang, alam ko nang twenty chapters lang 'to with some chapters na hinati ko into two parts kasi sobrang haba para sa isang chapter lang. I wanted the pacing to be like this. I wanted this to be an easy read. I hope nagawa ko iyon. Sana natapos mo. Sana nakaabot ka rito.
Paper Promises is about the foundation of any healthy relationship. Hindi lang sa romantic relationship, ha? Any relationship. That is—healthy communication. In this story, I tried to explore the consequences of not having that between a married couple, between a father and his daughter, between any bond... and how it destroys trusts and ruins families. May mga tao ring kagaya ni Andrew na mas pinipiling sarilihin ang problema kaysa i-share ang burden sa taong mahal nila. Thinking that by doing so, they are saving them (from pain or guilt).
Paper Promises is also about dreams and hopes challenged by secrets and lies. This is a story about trusting again... risking again... loving again... choosing again. Over and over. Because sometimes that is love, pipiliin mo, paulit-ulit, kasi mahal mo. Sometimes.
Thank you for giving this story a chance. Thank you for giving me chance. It has been a roller coaster of emotions for me as well. I am a full-time CPA grinding in the corporate world na pilit isinasabay ang hilig sa pagsusulat para sa dream ng younger self ko.
So, thank you nang marami... kasing dami ng stars sa San Juan, Batangas sa beach house nila Andrew. Sa beach house kung saan... tama na, move on na muna ako kila Andrew at Aliyah 😂
Natapos man ang kwentong ito, bubuksan ko naman ang panibago. Itutuloy natin ang mga kwento sa Café Amor. On the next book, samahan niyo akong alamin kung ano ba talaga ang mayroon kila Steph, Jasper, at Leo. Ewan ko, pero parang mas nakakakabang isulat iyon. Bardagulan malamang!
