She nodded, walking into a secluded area, crouching to pee. As she did so, she turned to see the light up sea life, it was beautiful, and after being healed here for so long — she hadn't one chance to admire its beautiful scapes.
"Hurry up." He muttered. She turned back over, finishing up. Walking back to him. "Done." She whispered.
He grabbed her, though it was less rough, still, it was a good grip.
They walked back, the sand filling the gaps of her toes. She looked down, seeing his toes, four fingers, like hers. "You're Sully's son aren't you?" She said suddenly.
He paused, slamming her against a tree. "Never say my father's name." He spat. His forearm pressed into her throat, causing her to slowly chock. He watched, his eyes raging at her face.
Her eyes fluttered, her hand tapping him, her breath slowly running out. "P-Please...s-stop." She gasped.
He released her, looking her up and down. Seeing her feared eyes, her shaking body. He wondered...how old was this girl? She didn't look fully grown.
"How old are you?" He asked.
She still gasping for air looked up at him, her eyes glossy from the strain on her face. "What...?"
"Your age. What is your age girl." He said firmly. She took a few deep breaths, before answering. Her voice, sooth yet raspy. "Nineteen." She whispered.
"You're young..." He said, nearly surprised. "What about my age?" She huffed.
"My father was like you." He began. "Once, he fought for the sky people." He continued, she was confused as to why he was telling her. "But he fell in love, with my mother."
She stared up, "What does this have to do with me." She said.
"I could teach you." He said. "The ways of our village." He said.
"And why would you do that?" She said. "Never mind that. Do you want to live freely or not." He growled. "I will never live freely as long as I am here." She spoke firmly.
"Would you rather me kill you? Continue to keep a watch on you?" He said, his voice rising. "Take this offer while it stands."
She weight her options, he was right, it was better for her if she were to take his offer.
"...Alright." She said finally.
—
Training was not easy, bruises, glares, tears. Everyday, for six months, she trained, fighting, hunting. The language barrier was breaking slowly, she spent her days with Neteyam, it was tiresome, every day, coming home with fresh cuts, sore limbs.
Today, was another long training session, she'd figjt Neteyam, her orders were simple, pin him, and she'd win.
Now failing, for the eleventh attempt, she grew frustrated, throwing her spear.
"Hey, no again." He said. Picking her spear up. "I can't do it." She huffed. "I'll never be able to do this."
He walked up to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. "You can, you won't let yourself." He said shoving the spear back in her hand. "Again." He insisted.
She groaned, readying her stance. "Think of something that angers you." He spoke as they walked around in a circle. She grunted, taking a step to him, missing her aim. "Ah." She hissed, her patience was leaving all together. "Another miss." He laughed. "Shut up!" She said, aiming again, failing miserably. She stomped her feet.
"Can't even poke my shoulder, you sure you're from the RDA?" He taunted.
She grew annoyed, dropping her spear. "I said shut up." He glared. "Or what? Not as if you could do anything about it." He teased. "Can't even poke me." He said.
She grew enraged, her sleepless night, her aching body, it was coming to the surface. She lunged on him, his face widened as she did so. She pinned him down, grabbing the spear with her feet, throwing to her grasp. Pointing it right at his eye.
"I said shut up." She growled. He softly laughed. "Finally."
Her gaze dropped. "Finally?" She repeated. He nodded, staying put as she pinned him. "I was only taunting you, I knew you'd get angry." He said.
Her face softened, "Oh."
"You did well today." He smiled. "I think you've come a long way." He whispered.
She smiled, not helping it. "I've...got a great teacher." She said softly.
They gazed into each other's eyes, so close, so heated, so out of breath. "Y/n." He said softly.
"Yes?" She said softly, the sound of the waves seemed to leave their ears, just their heavy breath being heard.
"Did I ever tell you how beautiful you looked?" He brought his hand to caress her cheek. "Neteyam?" She said softly.
"Shh..." He whispered. "Don't talk." He said.
He fingers trailed into her hair, bringing her head down to his, their noses barely touching. "What are you—"
"I said no talking." He said, his eyes roaming her face, his stare, so intense, almost admiring her. "Can I kiss you?" He whispered.
Her mouth dropped open, unable to even comprehend what he was doing. He noticed, and waited no longer for her answer, instead he softly brought his lips to hers.
It was soft, small, only lasting seconds. She melted into him, they stayed lingering for a moment, each taking in their scents.
—
Later as she rested, the flow of the sea rushing into her hear sight.
Thinking back on hers and Neteyam's interactions. A soft smile brewing on her lips. She felt her heart beating, the warmth of her body washing her to sleep.
Maybe, she could grew to like it here.
