"I rest my case," Leo retorted.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

"Y'know, guys, this is really not a great weekend for visitors. I got a lot of stuff-" Mr. Davenport was cut off by Chase opening the door to reveal Marcus, sleeping back and backpack in hand.

"Marcus, what a surprise," Chase greeted. "We were just talkin' about you."

Leo jumped over the couch, intercepting Marcus, who was walking towards the group.

"Yeah! And lemme catch you up to speed. You're two-faced and no one likes you. Good-bye!" he snarked, pointing at the door.

"I love this little guy. He's so full of fire!" Marcus commented, patting Leo on the head and pushing him out of the way so that he could talk to Mr. Davenport. "Mr. Davvenport, my dad left before my grandma got there and I was all alone and this is the only place that I feel safe and. . . please don't make me leave!" Marcus began to cry again, throwing his arms around the man.

"Do you ever stop crying?" Ellie asked, receiving disapproving looks from Adam and Bree.

"Yeah, okay, okay. Okay, all right. You can stay," Davenport relented, pushing the kid off of him. Suddenly, his watch began to beep.

"What is that?" Marcus asked, peering over his shoulder and looking at the watch.

"Uh, that? Oh uh that means. . . it's happy time! How about you two stay here and be happy and we'll be happy over there!" Davenport suggested, the rest of the group running to the kitchen with him.

Marcus turned to Ellie, preparing to put on another show of friendliness.

"Don't talk to me," Ellie huffed, crossing her arms and burying herself deep into the couch.

And the boy listened, walking over to where the rest of the group were talking.

"Uh, Marcus! We'll be right back. We gotta go. . . pick up a pizza," Bree told him.

"All of you?" he asked suspiciously.

"Uh. . . it's an. . . extra large," Adam lied, looking like he was extremely unsure of what he was saying. He and Bree then ran down the hallway following Chase and Mr. Davenport. That left just Leo, Marcus, and Ellie together.

"Okay, so they're busy. We hate you and you hate us. So why don't we kill some time and brush up on the latest issue of. . . Ladies Life Monthly," Leo suggested, picking up one of his mother's magazines from the table.

Marcus flopped down on the couch in annoyance, making Ellie roll her eyes at him.

Leo was sat on the back of the couch, quizzing Marcus with his mom's magazines.

"Okay. So, when you are on a romantic candlelight dinner, do you prefer dessert to be a) a relaxing foot rub, b) a night away from the kids or c) chocolate mousse?"

"How about d) finding clever new ways to ruin your life?" Marcus suggested.

Leo paused, looking around awkwardly.

"Um, I would just put down a. That seems the closest," Ellie chimed in, taking the magazine from Leo and penciling the answer in.

"Hey, Marcus! Excuse me, I have to borrow Leo for a second. Something went horribly wrong with the pizza," Davenport said, running into the room and dragging Leo away.

Marcus stood from the couch as soon as the two were out of sight.

"What are you doing?" Ellie asked suspiciously.
