Itna acha nahin hai but still...

As Abhira woke up, she looked at the other side of the bed and sighed upon finding it empty. Abhira reached out, gently placing her hand on the mattress to feel it slightly warm. She sighed tracing the plush mattress with her fingertips.

Kyun ker rahe ho yeh sab Armaan?

Abhira said to herself, her voice barely above a whisper. He has starting avoiding her. It had started after she saw Armaan being vulnerable in front of her and she comforted him. His warmth and scent barely lingered in the room. He would wake up way early and leave the room before she could wake up. Tears welled up in her eyes and she closed her eyes not allowing the tears to escape and wiped them with her hand. He had started avoiding her which left an undefinable ache in her chest. She longed for him, longed for his smile, his sparkling eyes, longed for his care, longed for his scoldings. She didn't wanted to admit but she missed him, missed him terribly. He would leave early and come home late when she slept just to avoid her. She longed for their cute fights, their small eye contacts that would make the world around them blur into insignificance, his laughter, she missed it all. Now their paths rarely crossed, their eyes rarely met, not more than a moment before he would avert his eyes which pained her a lot.

As she sat for breakfast, she lifted her eyes and unexpectedly, her eyes met Armaan,s. Her heart quickened it's pace and a small wave of relief washed over her. It was only for a moment and Armaan averted his eyes.

I'm leaving baba.

Armaan said, his voice a soft whisper as he stood up from the chair and collected his stuff.

Per Armaan khana toh kha ker jao beta.

Madhav said worriedly.

Bhook nahin hai.

He said hurriedly and left from there. Abhira,s heart ached and she downed her gaze.

It had became a routine for her to wait for him, then eventually falling asleep. She couldn't help but notice the fliker of regret etched in his eyes.

Kya woh uss contract breach ki wajah se pachta raha hai.

Abhira couldn't help but feel her stomach churn in discomfort at the thought. She gulped the lump that formed in her throat and looked at the clock as she waited for him, determined to bridge the emotional gap between them. A heavy cloud of uncertainty loomed over her making it difficult for her to breathe. She heard the sound of shoes clicking against the floor and she laid on the bed, closing her eyes, pretending to sleep.

Armaan came inside the room and smiled upon seeing her asleep. A small wave of relief washed over him. His heart was breaking a little more each time he ignored her intentionally.

He let out a low chuckle seeing her clutching the blanket in a tight fist. He slowly uncurled her fingers and then covered her with the quilt properly.

I'm sorry.

He whispered, his voice filled with regret.

He was about to walk towards his side of the bed but stopped feeling a tug on his hand. His heartbeats quickened and he shut his eyes, gulping, he opened them and turned around, a mixture of fear and hesitation flickering across his features.

Abhira opened her eyes and her grip tightened on his hand. She stood up and their eyes locked. Her heart ached seeing the dark circles etched under his eyes, his complexion was pale and he seemed tired and drained.
