mel and theo ran away from their parents during the summer between theo's first and second years. they went to gem's house and her mum basically adopted them. her mum's name is asteria "ria" cassandra black and she's the sister of bellatrix, narcissa and andromeda.

gem's father is poseidon, greek god of the seas. ria and sally jackson met just after percy was born(a year before gem) and became good friends, leading to gem and percy becoming extremely close. 

gem spends most of the summer at camp half-blood and the school year at hogwarts every year. christmas, easter, etc. are spent at home.

no moldyshorts, jily is alive. dorlene live in the us of a but come to visit often.

james, lily and harry live in a huge house next to where asteria, gem, mel and theo live. the blacks and notts live in a large, four-story house which asteria inherited from her great uncle. wolfstar live opposite the two families in a cottage.
