Chapter 1

Nightmare (Unknown God) [Not me literally I'll make this clear]
Iris (Rookie Adventurer)

Iris went out on an adventure far far away from her hometown, after a few hikes and walks through different cities and towns full of magic and other adventurers. She comes across a forest to gather some berries for her to eat while out for another hike to the other town. As she enters, she unsheathes her short-sword to prepare herself with unwanted attention. Even though she doesn't have any kind of fighting training. After a while, she gathers all the berries she needs and puts it in her pouch and manages to not attract any wildlife that may possibly harm her, but suddenly... She sees a dark figure in the distance in a clear part of the forest. She then decides to check it out, as she got closer to the dark figure it was clear it wasn't human... The dark figure was floating in the air thinking of something or nothing at all. She thought to herself, 'who is this guy?' She thinks of what he could possibly be.. A wizard? A magic user? She doesn't know but she's just frozen in thought of what he could possibly be... She holds her short-sword tighter in fear because he might attack. She glances at the being once again and notices he's now looking at her. She quickly hides behind the tree but how will she handle this situation now without any knowledge of fighting or anything. Is this how she dies? She thought to herself. Until the being spoke. "I sense your presence mortal, show yourself." the being said in a monotone voice. Iris shivers in fear but she reveals herself and holds her short-sword even tighter as her breath becomes heavier from the fear. The being spoke once more, "Why are you here and why did you enter my domain?" He asked in an irritated manner. Iris tried opening her mouth to speak but nothing came out, she was too scared to speak. "Speak..." He spoke once again as he looked at Iris. She then finally had the courage to talk with a few words, "W-what are you?" She asked him in fear. He scoffed and answered, "I am but an Unknown God." She is shocked by what she just heard from the being, she didn't expect to meet a god in her first ever long adventure. She then asked another question. Her voice was small and terrified "W-why would a god want to talk to me...?" He then answered back, "Why wouldn't I? I sensed your presence and you tried to hide behind bushes and trees." He said it like it was an obvious answer. Iris raises her sword again but her hands are shaking "I.. I was just exploring gathering berries for my adventure..." She said as she dropped her sword and gave up. "Speak your truth mortal." He said in a serious tone. "I-I Thought you were going to hurt me...!" She says in fear on her knees, but she gets back up to properly speak to this being. He speaks again, "Do you even know who I am?" She shakes her head. It's true she truly doesn't know who this unknown god is. "Well that's reasonable. I am an Unknown God after all, Just call me Nightmare" he said. "Nightmare..." She repeats his name for a second, then She asks him a question that was on her mind. "W-Why am I of any interest to you?" He replies back to her question. "Mortals like you aren't supposed to see us gods and goddesses" She replied with "R-Really?" He replies again quickly "Especially for an Unknown god like me."

He said confidently to her. "I never would have imagined seeing someone like you, Nightmare... Your power..." She said as she nodded. "I guess you might be a special type of adventurer who is able to witness and see us gods." She was overwhelmed by the thought but is slowly calming down. She was also overwhelmed about the fact there are gods like Nightmare hidden around this world. "I... am just a rookie... I have no idea how I would even be able to see you..." She slowly spoke about herself being a rookie. "You know. Mortals who can see gods and goddesses shall be accompanied by the god they first meet, you know that?" He said. "Wait what..?" She looked confused by the sudden information Nightmare has given her, does this really mean she will now be accompanied by a god? On pure accident... or was she misunderstanding something? "Have you heard of the CNT book that mortals like you love to read? The book is about history about supernatural beings and such or like us in general." He asked about a book that she might have and of course she has read some of it before because she needed it for her journey. "The... Book of supernatural beings...? I did actually read it but not a lot of it... but I never took it seriously because I thought it was childish and just for entertainment for adventurers on the road..." She said calling the book somewhat Childs play. "I've read it myself too... i could say that that book is all true. But like what you said, Mortals don't seem to take it seriously as it was all fictional entertainment." He said in a disappointed tone. "W-Wait so that book is all true? Well a god calling it true must be true after all... So you're telling me the beings mentioned in that book are truly in this world?" She stammers and her eyes widen from the information Nightmare has given her. It was hard to believe at first that supernatural beings do exist in this world. She always thought those drawings and stories of gods and other supernatural were fake... As she's frozen in thought, Nightmare takes her CNT book and goes to a specific page. She was curious about what he started to look for before she looked over and saw page 38 was where he stopped. Now her curiosity has sparked. "Page 38...?" She asked him. "Stated in CNT Page 38. Now listen closely mortal, "travelers or adventurers have a rare chance to see gods and goddesses roam the lands of this world. Then if the traveler or adventurer makes contact with the first god they see, they will choose to be accompanied or not in their journey. until the end of their journey." He read to her what was on page 38. Iris thought to herself for a second, on what Nightmare had read to her claiming this to be true... This was written on page 38 of the book and she truly was seeing a god in front of her... does this really mean Iris is bound with Nightmare until the very end of her journey? "Do you understand your responsibilities?" He asked her, She nodded. "I-I think I do. I am bound to you now... until the very end of my journey..."
