Once upon a time there was a man named Jam, who lived in the most hidden meadows of the kingdom with his wife Clarisse. Despite his simple life, Jam had everything he could want: a quiet life, an incredible wife and the comforts of a home away from war, but one day he lost it all.

Jack felt how his little brother grabbed his arm, squeezing it so hard that it hurt him, but he didn't say anything, he smiled to himself with a little internal grace, then he continued reading:

One morning, the king himself arrived with an army at the doors of the home, with an imposing posture he got off his horse and was received by Jam:

"Old friend," he said, hugging him, "what brings you here?"

-Sadly very bad news.

Then they walked for a long time through the cold summer grass while the king told him how the conquerors were already crossing a large part of the continent and that they would soon reach the lands of his kingdom:

-My defenses are very low and the magic of the sorcerers doesn't help, that's why I want to ask you something.

Jam had been a very important member of the royal guard years ago, but so much battle and death had left him dejected, now he just needed a little peace of mind:

-I don't know, Your Majesty, I have been living in these lands for so long that I have made them my home, I prefer to stay away from the war.

The king understood, however, he was not going to give up so easily:

- I accept your requests, but I want you to know that the approaching threat is not just anything.

-Trolls...

- That's how it is; Look, you were one of my best men, if not the best, I need you at the front and for the men to follow you.

Jam did not feel comfortable with the conversation, he wished that the king would not ask him for these things because there was simply no way he could accept it, but the monarch put a hand on his shoulder and exclaimed:

-Listen to me, don't do it because I ask you to,Do it for everyone - Jam felt how the king was beginning to invade his space, he didn't know whether to feel uncomfortable or what, but he didn't like the feeling he perceived in the air - do it for her - and he pointed towards Clarisse.

And the world became silent. Jam looked at his wife for a long time, offering tea to the army men. He needed a moment to meditate on his thoughts, he felt his mind was in disarray, but his majesty was very insistent:

-Come on friend, please. If you don't come, I might die.

Jam simply didn't know what to answer, the king offered his hand as a sign of treatment and just looked at her in silence...

_____________

The heat was unbearable, but the fear... was nauseating. The knights, although brave, kept an overwhelming silence; Jam looked at them with pity, she knew that feeling... hiding the terror of the battle was like drowning, no one deserved to carry a great weight in deep Muteness.

He stood up and gave his speech:

-I already told you that that is not in talks- suddenly, a scream took them out of the story, a very high-pitched and shrill one. Mother

-Your son is not fit for this house-like a thunderclap, dad's voice shook the two brothers- that child does not belong here, we should take him to the resistance, your boy will be of some use.
