"Well, then why did we dissect frogs the other day in class?" he asked the group.

Ellie, Leo, and Bree shot the boy disgusted looks.

Suddenly, Ellie heard Chase descending the stairs, "Hey! Vote for Chase! Tell your friends!"

She watched as he approached a girl at the bottom of the staircase.

"Vote for Chase for student of the semester. Here's my website where you can peruse my platform, marvel at my skills, or even play a game of Chase trivia, where all the answers are about me," he grinned. The girl shot him an annoyed look as she took a business card he was holding and walked away.

He ran over to the group as he spotted them behind him, "Hey!" he called as he handed Leo one of the business cards Ellie had seen him give to the girl. She peered over at the card, which had the image of a grinning Chase against a blurred background of the flag of the United States of America. In red, white, and blue letters, "CHASE THE DREAM" was written on the card.

"What do you think?" he asked excitedly as he took a step back to let the group examine the card.

"What do I think or what's appropriate to say to your face?" Leo challenged.

"Yeah, and what's with the patriotic theme, Yank?" Ellie spoke up, a look of disgust on her face.

"Chase the dream?" queried Bree as she grabbed the card from Leo's hands, "Please do not give these to anyone I might want to become friends with!"

Chase let all of their comments slide off of his back, stating, "I've got a plan. Check it out, I even linked the latest facial recognition software to the school database to create a laser-automated attendance system.

Suddenly, a student attempted to walk in, setting off the laser that chase had mentioned. An alarm began to beep and a light over the door flashed red.

"ANDREW LAMB HAS BEEN LATE THREE DAYS IN A ROW!" an automated voice that sounded eerily like Chase's stated.

A security guard next to the door grabbed the confused-looking boy by the arm and began dragging him to the office.

"Straight to the principal's office, Andy," Chase scolded, doing a dramatic point to the boy's destination.

"Yeah, I have a feeling 'Andy' won't be chasing the dream," Ellie muttered to Leo as Adam approached his younger brother.

"He'll thank me later for putting him on the right path!" Chase affirmed.

"Oh, Dude! You're never gonna win with that! Kids want fun stuff like jacuzzis in math class and hallways paved with candy," Adam told his brother. "Ooh! And I also think that biology would be a lot more fun if we could juggle the frogs before we dissected them!"

Ellie sighed, realizing that there was no way to communicate to Adam that he was in fact not in biology.

"That's frog abuse," Leo deadpanned.

"Fine, we'll do it after, but it's gonna get messy," Adam relented, pointing a finger at Leo.

LATER, Ellie was sitting at the lunch table with Leo and Bree while she finished her geometry homework from last night.

"Where is Chase?" Leo asked.

"Probably off ruining my chances of ever finding other friends," Bree sighed, picking at her turkey and gravy.

It was days like turkey day that made Ellie especially grateful that she packed her lunch. She wasn't crazy about eating meat to begin with, but the questionable contents of the school meat in particular made her vow never to consume it.
